Overall a great all inclusive holiday. Friendly and helpful staff, properly all inclusive food drinks and facilities. Spacious and well equipped rooms with great sea views. Very quiet at night.

For me the only negatives were minor: poor coffee, wifi was expensive and wines with meals were not great. Oh yes, the evening entertainment was a bit lame, but that was no big deal for us anyway, and its probably the same everywhere on the island.

Our 17 year old son struggled with the 3rd bed in the kids room. The sofa bed was not great and they did try and give us a better portable bed, but it was not fantastic. Still, they tried hard.

I would recommend the hotel.

Top Tip: Don't buy a Levada or island tour, just hire a taxi for the day. A personal service and you'll save a fortune.

It is rated 5 star we was very disappointed there was no tea or coffee facilites in room, there was no ironing board or any details about hotel facililites i.e resturants spa details etc every time we wanted to know where everything was we had to ask at reception and the bed was so hard most nights i had to sleep in a chair as i suffer with a bad back and it was hard as nails asked for something to be put onto the bed but it was so thin did not make a difference. My husband and I are of an age group between 50 and 65 but we felt like it was a place for older people.
On a positive note the staff where very friendly and they were always happy to help all visitors.
the room was spacious but the cleaning of the bathroom was not cleaned properly after a shower room was misty and you could see where cleaning of shower and mirror was cleaned up to and everything was left to feel gritty not clean will be returning to maderia but not to Hotel.

Top Tip: It is not expensive to eat in Funchal and people are very friendly, we found a lovely taxi driver named Reuben by the cable car and we saw more of Funchal by car rather than cable car will look forward to going back to Funchal .

We thought the all-inclusive deal on this hotel was excellent value. The food caters for most unless you like very spicy. The staff change hats depending on which restaurant they are working in but are always cheerful and very friendly. The Japanese restaurant was exceptionally good with the added entertainment of watching your food being prepared in front of you. The evening's entertainment was varied but steered more towards the senior guests so later on in the week we walked up to a very nice bar about 10 minutes walk away the one with the old car outside!
We didn't sleep well on floor 6 as the beds and pillows were too hard it may have helped if we had had a douvet instead of sheets and blanket. We will return to Madeira but would stay a bit closer to the Centre of Funchal as it takes around 40 minutes to walk from the hotel to the harbour.

Top Tip: Live entertainment at "The Hole in One" brilliant.

Routine 4 star, everything O.K. but nothing special. I have seen many glowing reviews that suggest this hotel is outstanding, but not for us. We have nothing to complain about but we wont return as we do to some other hotels. We were there for 7 nights ( a short break for us ) but it was enough.

Top Tip: Hire a car to enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery.
