“ Excellent position in the small town of Porto Moniz. The room we had was large and comfortable with a lovely balcony overlooking the promenade. Decoration in the hotel is fine, but the carpets are all very tired (public areas and our room) with stains and faded patches. Our room was very clean and the maid service was good. Breakfasts were excellent with a wide range of cheeses, cooked meats, bacon, eggs, sausages, fruit, etc. The indoor pool (in the basement) was warm and clean, but the decoration is very tired with some holes in the ceiling where lights have been removed! The hotel does not have a restaurant and so you have to eat out at night but there are around 8 or 9 restaurants within 400m.

“ Top Tip: The ORCA is great for evening meals. But if you can face the drive, O Fio at Ponta do Pargo has the most amazing ocean view in Madeira, and its fish dishes and cakes are superb
