Teatro Hotel

“ Quirky design hotel. Very near main plaza and metro stations. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Breakfast is as good as reported and relaxed.
Some may find the style rather dark and I am not so sure it would work in high Summer coming in from bright sunshine but we liked it.

“ Top Tip: We got metro from airport €2.30 each and five minutes walk to hotel. Intended to get three day pay pass but actually found Yellow tour ticket was sufficient and good value.

“ The Teatro was wonderful. Decor magnificent, excellent layout, a bit dark which might be a problem for someone with poor eyesight. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice but that is perhaps a bit English! I have been to plenty of other hotels abroad that don't have them. All the staff were extremely helpful. We had one of the tasting menus with its accompanying wines - superb!! We would definitely go again

“ Top Tip: The hotel was centrally located so everything was at hand. The hotel receptionist supplied a map and marked all the must see things on it for us.

“ I liked the Teatro. The public spaces on the ground floor were generous and the staff helpful and friendly. It is in a fairly smart part of town, close to metro and railway and a fairly easy walk to the old town. (No walk is that easy in Porto, which is all up and down.) My criticisms are that the whole place is very dark, with brown the predominant colour. Also, the room, while comfortable, lacked any surface (a dressing table or desk) on which to write or rest a laptop. There was no room either for an easy chair. (A plastic one was wedged into one corner, but hardly usable.) TV had to be watched lying on the bed.

“ Top Tip: There's a Brazilian restaurant immediately opposite (Cafe Brasil??) that offers hearty portions at reasonable prices.
