“ For anyone travelling to Porto, we would recommend the Hotel Pestana - perfect location, good quality and very friendly.
“ Top Tip: Try to plan your day so that you always end up walking downhill to the Hotel Pestana at the end of the day!! It can be easily done and saves dragging up the hill in the heat too many times.

Great location in the world heritage area of Porto, right on the Douro and close to the Eiffel bridge. Nice bar and great breakfast room. Good breakfast too. Helpful staff who speak good english. Our room was big and comfortable and well kitted out. If you can get a room with a river view you'd be very happy.
Easy to get to from the airport, we went in on the cheap and efficient modern metro. Good selection of bars and restaurants immediately around and being in the old historic centre it's a good area for sightseeing. River tours run a few metres away from the hotel.
“ Top Tip: We'd really recommend eating at Ode, which is a 2/3 minute walk from the hotel. You get a set menu plus differing wines with each course, plus an education on the locally sourced foods and wines from the owner who is an enthusiast. At 40 euros a head the quality of the food and wines felt like a bargain. A lovely little restaurant and wine house;a real experience.

Top Tip:
Turning immediate left from the hotel up the steep street on the left is Cris's Bar
They do a very nice inexpensive meal feeling really like a local.
Nice walks along riverbank iether going left or right.
