Excellent hotel for good priced accomodation. Near to Metro, which is safe, clean and efficient. Just round the corner from El Corte Inglis department store which is open 10am to 11pm, for shopping and cafe/restaurant facilities.
Staff are extremely friendly and speak good English.
Rooms are clean, with typical Portuguese beds (quite hard by English standards, but good for the back!).
All in all - good value for money and good transport location.,
“
Top Tip:
Buy the Metro andante tour ticket at the airport for 1 or 3 days (15 euros) unlimited transport on the Metro and buses, well worth the cost.
Some traffic noise in hotel, request higher room.
Small cafe across from the Pharmacy, charges too much for drinks!
El Corte Inglis store has a 10% off voucher for visititors from outside Portugal, go to the customer services desk, 1 floor down, take your passport.

Excellent value hotel, very near to Metro (2 mins walk), which is efficient, clean and safe (important as I was a lone female traveller) Good continental type breakfast, with non-alcoholic free drinks in the entrance seating area.
Staff are extremely friendly and efficient and speak very good English. Several good cafes, restaurants in the area and 2 minutes away is El Corte Ingles department store, with good shopping and restaurants.
Bath and shower rooms are available (some traffic noise) ask for higher level.
“
Top Tip:
Buy the Metro Andante tour ticket at the airport (Customer Services) 3 day is 15 euros, well worth the cost as you can use on all Metro and buses (no finding change after and your know the cost is paid for) Validate the card at the machines located at the entrace to the lines.
El Corte Ingles stores opens 10am to 11pm.

The Clip Gaia Porto was good value for what we paid: friendly and helpful staff; basic but clean and good-sized bedroom and bathroom; plenty of hot water; effective air conditioning; generous and varied continental breakfast. It was also very convenient for the Metro (the fast, cheap way to get into the centre of Porto, and only about e2 from the airport compared to e35 for a taxi), with a station three minutes walk away. The hourly step-on, step-off tourist bus also has a stop close by.
Beds where a bit on the hard side, but not uncomfortable. The best choice of restaurants is to be found close to the river, which is a Metro or taxi ride away, but we did find a little gem nearby (see Top Tips). There were free help-yourself drinks in the foyer, but we didn't rate them much.
“ Top Tip: The Carpa restaurant five minutes walk from the hotel was superb value. Great chicken, fish and steak dishes. Although it is a popular take-away for local people, there are meal placings at the bar and a counter at the back of the restaurant. The portions are huge, so two can share the half meal and still have too much. A basket of bread, a main meal with fresh salad and a huge plate of chips, puddings, a bottle of wine and coffee came to about e20 for two people. Amazing. If you want something a bit more sophisticated, the Carpa has a candlelit restaurant a little further up the street. But do try the take-away version as well.

“ The hotel is clean and modern with 2 lifts to all floors. It's nice to walk in to your bedroom in the evening to find it all spick and span with the curtains closed keeping the room cool, giving the air conditioning a chance to work properly. The breakfasts are good and the staff keep an eye on things so there is always plenty to eat. The staff in reception are most abliging. There are free teas and cold drinks in the lounge. If you need a coffee the staff will make you one, and if you want a bite to eat there is a menu for food up til 12.00 p.m. at a reasonable cost. The staff speak good English and will book you a taxi if you need one.
“
Top Tip:
The transport was really good. The Metro runs from just outside the airport to most areas. A map can be found on the internet. If you turn left out of the arrivals and go to the meeting point , there is an information desk where you can get passes for the metro. You have to frank them each time you make a journey.
This was very useful as the metro goes passed the hotel. It's also a nice walk down to the bridge over the river where all the action is. The old town is the other side of the river. The cable cars and vunicular are very handy for getting down to the river side. A map for the bus routes can be got at the railway station.

“ Hotel was ok for our requirements which was a 3 day stay to watch a football match. The plumbing was noisey but the towels were changed every day and although small the room was clean and had daily maid service. Breakfast was limited but adequate. Overall no complaints for the money paid and suitable for the visit requirement.
