We are 60 year old couple and we have stayed twice at the Goya in 2011. The hotel is nice enough and comfortable for the money you pay. Breakfast is basic but was enough for us. The room was clean and comfortable. Beds made and bathroom tidied every day.

It is rather far out from the city centre (about 25 minutes walk) but it is a pleasant walk, although uphill going back. If we didn't feel like walking, we would get the 21 or 22 bus near the beach and for 1.25 euros each, it took us a five minute walk from the hotel (stop Plaza Luceros).

We have really enjoyed our two 4 day stays in Alicante and would like to go again and will probably stay at the Goya next time because it doesn't cost much and we don't spend a lot of time there anyway.

Top Tip: We think Alicante is a lovely city to visit because as well as the numerous shops and restaurants, there is a lovely harbour area and good clean beach.

The tram makes many towns along the coast easily accessible and we would recommend seeing Villajoyosa and Altea.

Cannot speak for all the rooms, but the one we had did not have any windows; or in actual fact they had windows but they had been boarded up. This would be ok if, like us, you were only staying for 2 nights but it could become very uncomfortable if staying any longer. the air conditioning unit was not able to compete. The room is very basic but clean and the staff were fine and friendly.

Top Tip: The Duke Bar is just a short walk away from the hotel, next to the beautiful Plaza de Locerros and well worth a visit.

You get what you pay for. Hotel dated but was fine for us as the beds, towels etc were clean and we only needed the room to sleep in. Easy walk to town centre and the beach/harbour.

A good solid hotel which did everything competently. Given its location, it would probably be a short stay venue in the main. Staff seem good.

Appreciate by the cost this was a budget hotel, and I have stayed there before on a short trip, definitely not a winter hotel, and during visit there were approx 8 other guests, mainly contractors. Suspect hotel more suited for contractors than visitors to Alicante

Most recent booking for this hotel was 02/02/2012 at 12:20

Located in the centre of Alicante the Hotel Tryp Ciudad de Alicante is just 100 metres from the beach and the Explanada de Espana Promenade. The bedrooms are all decorated in a comfortable and relaxing way.

Very friendly and pleasant staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Very good variety of food for breakfast. Only drawback was the noise from outside, we stayed over a weekend and at about 3.30am Sunday morning crowds of teenagers, probably making their way home from a nightclub, were very boisterous outside. Other than that our stay was very pleasant.
