The Diagonal Amrey is located in the business, recreational and cultural hub of Barcelona. It is right in the middle of “Districte 22@”, where high technology companies are installed, and only 800 metres away from the Bogatell Beach. We are located on the Avinguda Diagonal, at the corner of the Rambla del Poblenou, only 300 metres from the Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes. From here, you can link up with the Avinguda Meridiana and the Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes.

The hotel has excellent communications with the historic centre of Barcelona, Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia, and the trade fair complex by means of the Metro (Lines 1 and 4) and city buses. Easy direct connection with the A-2 Motorway (to the airport) and the A-7 Ronda del Litoral (the coastal ring road). The hotel has 154 comfortable double rooms. There are rooms for the disabled and no-smoking rooms. Rooms at the hotel are soundproof, and come equipped with individual climate control, ADSL, magnetic card lock, hairdryer, safety deposit box, mini bar, telephone with Voicemail, TV with numerous channels, a complete bathroom and a desk.

We were greeted very nicely on our arrival, the staff have a good command and understanding of English. The hotel is well presented the reception area and restaurant are very clean table cloths and staff are immaculate. The staff attentive. The rooms are a good size, air conditioned. Again the room and bathroom and very clean, linen and towels changed regularly. There was very little noise from the Avenue below or the other rooms - very good. The view from the top rooms is fab. The staff were good with directions if you want to walk or take the bus to a venue.

Breakfast is great everything you could want of a continental breakfast. Fruit, cerial, toast, eggs, ham, cheese etc. The set evening meal is a little repetative and not to the English pallet, but is well presented, and the service is good.

We were able to put our cases behind reception after checkout so we didnt have to drag them about, and were able to enjoy a few hours more befor the airport transport arrived.

I would recommend this hotel as very good for a city break.

Top Tip: Its very easy to get around Barcelona from this hotel. If you are a keen walker you can walk into town. The Avn Diagonal is a good place to navigate from, we walked to the bull ring and then on to the Sagrada Familia. Mum is 83 so we took it steady, but there were no problems. The no 7 bus goes from the newstand opposite the hotel and will drop you a short walk from (turn 360 when you get off and walk 'back' 2 -3 mins) to the city square Place Catalunya and its easy to catch it back - cheap to E1.45. The Metro line is 7 - 10 mins walk away opposite the Glories shopping centre. The red Baracelona City Tour bus goes from opposite the Torre Agbar which is a good landmark and when visiting the higher ground on the west of the city can be easily seen. Its fab when lit up at night.
Turn left immediately out of the hotel and stroll down the avenue filled with little local shops and cafes to the beach about 30 mins, we strolled down to the Casino where in the square live bands were playing and some market stalls were set out (it was a Sunday). The marina is full of nice boats to look at.
The Glories shopping centre has many varied shops and restaurants and its well worth having your evening meal here budget for about E12-15 a head (drink extra) its a nice atmosphere inside or better still outside, Ginos Italian has very good pasta and Ginos can be found at the Casino as well.
At the Glories 'roundabout' follow round to the right and there is an open air market on Monday.
If you drink tea I would recommend a travel kettle, bottled water and your own tea bags !

This hotel is great for sight seeing and atmosphere but not if you're looking for a 'beach' holiday, walking to the beach everyday could get wearing and not much fun for little kids.

Hotel was super clean and staff were very friendly.

A great hotel in a quiet location. Although it takes one tram stop and a couple of metro journeys to get to the centre of Barcelona, I still regard it as a great hotel. We used it for bed, breakfast and to refresh late evening before going out for the night. Would use again and would recommend to others.

Top Tip: Very little near by - there is a shopping centre about 200metres from hotel.

Modern, clean hotel with helpful staff and with the added bonus of good quality breakfasts to charge you up for the day! .Well located to the north east of Barcelona with good transport links. Not in a 'touristy area' so has a good local feel. The hotel is right beside the Rambla de Poblenou a very pleasant walk full of good eating spots where you can absorb the culture, people watch and chill in the evening warmth.

Top Tip: get down to the beach! lovely walk along the coast very worthwhile.

The Hotel Amrey was very nice! Staff were friendly and spoke enough english to help us get by. There's no pool but the barcelonetta beach is only a short journey away so who cares! The room was lovely with panoramic windows facing along the Diagonal (one of Barca's main districts). The maids were friendly and cleaned our room nicely every day. Overall a great place, give it a try.

Top Tip: Get yourself a 4 or 5 day travel pass. They're about 20 euros but you can use the metro, trams, buses and other trains with no limits!
It's well worth visiting monserrat.. it's about an hour away on the train but it's nice to get out of the city for one day at least.
Head to Carpe Diem bar on barcelonetta beach.. lovely sangria and big beds to chill out on!
Also don't forget to check out La Rambla (get off the metro at Catalunya).
