Icaria Hotel

“ Great hotel with excellent links to the main area-Las Ramblas. Hotel was in a great location and i am glad that i picked this location instead of a more central hotel. Beach was a two minute walk and so we could go whenever we wanted.

Rooms were good and the facilities were also excellent.

The only issue we had was with abar tender. We finished eating at the restaurant and went to pay the bill at the bar (instead of waiting for someone to take our money). We took the money to the man behind the bar area and he was speaking to us in spanish, clearly he knew that we could not speak the language but he got very frustrated with us and slammed our change on the counter. My husband told him to smile. This ruined our evening and we should have complained but we decided not to get the bar tender into any trouble.

Overall a great visit!

“ The hotel is fine. It's a little off the beaten track in a broadly quiet residential area of the city. The room was clean and smart and more than adequate for a city break. The only negative that we encountered during our stay was the offering at breakfast. The restaurant seemed under-staffed to say the least. We did not arrive for breakfast any day just as it was about to close (i.e. 11am) but each day we had to ask for something - no orange juice, no eggs, no bread, no beans, no butter, coffee machines not working etc etc. Whilst this was resolved fairly quickly it was disappointing for a hotel that is badged as 4 star. The staff seemed focussed on clearing tables and washing dishes - not on what was available and presentation. The nearerst underground station was good 10 minute walk away, so I would not recemmend this hotel for anyone wanting to be at the heart of the city. It is close to the beach though.

“ Top Tip: There were a few restaurants close by, but we tended to head into the more popular areas to eat. There is a small shopping centre, with a decent size supermarket in it and other smaller shops within a few minutes walk of the hotel.
