Alone Hotel

“ We were the only English guests and the hotel manager made a point of speaking to us to ensure we were enjoying our holiday. The pool was brilliant with a water slide and a children paddling pool adjoining it. The food was absolutely excellent - lots of choice of meat / fish / interesting salads, great paellas, breakfasts excellent with eggs and bacon, pastries, cereals etc and always a good selection for children (and my two are quite fussy eaters!). The day time entertainment consisted of swimming races and water polo in the mornings and Spanish dancing afterlunch - which was great fun. There was varied evening entertainment with Bingo, magic shows, flamenco dancing, music quiz etc - all preceded by the children's disco. Downside was that the children's disco didn't start until about 10.30 (after dinner which was 8 - 10). There is a children's playground which is situated in the pool area, and table football, pool tables, darts, internet access and Wii in the bar area. All the staff were very polite and did their best to understand my poor Spanish. The rooms were very clean and fairly spacious for a family of 4 (we had two double beds) and lovely sunny balcony. We booked this last minute and were unsure what to expect of Benidorm - but it was nothing like the TV programme. The Hotel Alone was like an oasis amongst many much taller apartment blocks and hotels. There were a few bars within a stones throw and about a 10 minute walk to the beach at Cala Finestrat - a lovely little cove with water sports and several bars - both Spanish and English and a very good Irish bar too. There is a bus stop outside the hotel to take you into Benidorm itself which takes 10 minutes or so. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a hen or stag but would definitely recommend for a long weekend break . Our group consisted of my husband and I and our twin 6 year olds. There were plenty of similar age children there. A thoroughly enjoyable 6 day break. We will be rebooking!
