Barcelo Montecastillo Golf Hotel

“ If you are looking for a beach holiday then this isnt for you as it is located some 20minute drive and therefore you will need a car to visit the local towns. We selected the hotel as we were amiddle aged group with older teenager children who wanted a relaxing holiday and with the benefit of being all inclusive and a golf course then it did tick all of the boxes although we did have reservations when we booked.

The 5 star hotel is looking a bit worn however nothing that you would directly notice and the service was great. There was a great selection of meals and we never had one bad meal. It was nice not to have the snack rubbish inbetween the meals that normal all inclusive package holidays normally offer .

The facilities are fantastic with three great swimming pools , tennis courts and of course the golf course that you dont need to really pay the extra 39e ro hire a buggy. The Golf course is excellent and although i havent played many spainish courses my friend who has, rated it very highly - A great challenging course that tests all your positioning skills.

The question is would i reccomend it and would i come back again - The answer is a BIG YES.

One of the downsides thta could put people off is that it is located in a resort delvelopment site so quite a bit of buildings under construction also there isnt any eveing entertainment, however this wasnt n issue for us as there has three families .

“ Top Tip: The water park at Cadiz is OK although it was busy when we went so didnt really get value for money 17e.

Large retail shopping centre (for the women) just outside Jerez that is worth a trip especially in July when all the sales were on . Wished i had bought my holiday clothes there!!

Jerez town is worth a visit

“ My Husband and i booked this hotel as it appeared from the travel republic brochere to be a five star , it was far from that.
I would not reccommend this Hotel to anyone, it is shabby dirty and run down.
The rooms were old and had a musty smell with cracked dirty floor tiles , shabby furniture which was falling to bits .

We decided we could not stay here and asked travel republic to move us to another hotel.
we lost 2 days from our holiday as customer services failed to help us .
first day waiting for 7 hours to be found allterative accom which never materialised and second day trawling the internet to find our own accommadation

“ Wonderful hotel and excellent food but the description should make it clear that it is "10 mins from the centre of Jerez" BY FAST CAR. Unless you are a golf addict you really do need a car to get around since it is way up in the hills above Jerez and there is no public transport. It cost me 18 euros each way for a taxi into Jerez.

another big no-no was the that smoking was freely allowed in the bar. The air was blue. perhaps the law in Spain doesn't cover hotels?

“ We had a lovely stay the hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly. We are planning to return next year.

“ Top Tip: We tried several local restaurants and we found them all to be excellent. The hotel was ideally placed to access Jerez.
