“ A car is advisable when you stay at the Ayre(new name for the Occidental) Hotel as it is several kms from the centre of Cordoba. It is located in a very peaceful residential area in beautiful, well tended gardens that make for a relaxed stay. The hotel has a spacious interior with flowers and fountains in the large lobby. Our room was well appointed with a large, comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of cooked and continental style breakfast foods on offer. Car parking was free of charge. The staff were friendly and helpful ( despite our limited Spanish we managed to convey to the chambermaid that my wife has asthma and cant tolerate polishes and aerosols - she never forgot during our stay and made sure others knew too). We had a pleasant stay.
“ Top Tip: Be sure to visit the fabulous Mezquita and take a walk through the Juderia. You can then cross the river on the newly renovated Roman bridge and lunch or dine at one of the pavement cafes beside the river.

“ Typical business hotel, nice grounds. Room slightly shabby but staff very helpful. Quite a drive out of Cordoba but on main road into town so easy to find way around - would probably need a car though. Hotel is now called Ayre Cordoba - signs at main junctions made it relatively easy to find.

“ 8 euro taxi ride from town and difficult to find as it is not called the occidental any longer. Apart from that lovely hotel with ample parking in pretty gardens. Excellent value for money.

“ Good hotel in all respects as far as facilties are concerned. Breakfast was excellent. Ask for a room on the back as the ones on the front are on a main road and can be very noisy. The hotel is close to all the tourist attractions and within walking distance.

The hotel stands amid lush vegetation at the top of a hill in the Sierra Morena, overlooking the legendary, historic city of Cordoba. Its outstanding location provides visitors with the opportunity to relax, whilst being just a short distance away from the city centre. The hotel building is a Modernist palace inspired by Andalusian baroque style and features 58 guest rooms all equipped with TV, telephone and air conditioning. The hotel also features a cafeteria, extensive gardens, a swimming pool and solarium.

This charming hotel is spread over 3 floors and comprises 26 rooms, of which 9 are apartments/ studios. On entering the hotel, guests will arrive in the lobby area offering 24-hour reception service with a safe and a lift. An air-conditioned restaurant is available within the hotel and three typical Andalusian style patios invite guests to wile away the hours. Those arriving by car may opt to park in the car park or garage and a bike storage facility is also on offer. Medical assistance is available on request.
“ Excellent location for visiting the Mesquita and plenty of eating places nearby. Rooms clean andthe staff very friendly, also nice decor around the hotel. Slghtly strange arrangement for breakfast, as had to walk up the road 50yds or so to the Hostal Maestre. Breakfast a bit basic, but tortilla and bacon good and staff very friendly. Excellent value for money.

“ This was a great hotel. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast was super. We loved lying out by the pool. I would have rated the hotel 10 if they had more sunloungers that was the only downside.
