The historic restaurant, where the monks who lived here once dined before sailing off on their missions to the New World, offers excellent cuisine and fine wines.

“ The visit was spoiled by a temporary change due to significant renovations that had over-run. Consequently there was no restaurant and the large salon was padlocked. We were assured another room was available instead but on visiting found a cold, unlit room with no windows filled by a projector screen and odd furniture. On our previous visit we had been impressed by the charm of the establishment but it was virtually closed on this occasion and should not have taken a booking without first warning guests that there would be no restaurant nor any bar or tea/coffee available! The bedroom was quite adequate as before and the only inconvenience applied to public spaces and services. There is no lift and many stairs which may be an important factor for the less mobile and some older guests. There are restaurants in the town, one better than most but not all are suitable.
“ Top Tip: I found Travel Republic representatives were extremely helpful when contacted about changing the length of stay due to the inconvenient works in progress at the hotel. They could not have been more efficient and courteous.

It all looked and felt a little bit 'sad' ie run down.
Car parking was, apparently, 100 yards away. (We parked in the street.)
It proved quite difficult to find the hotel. There were directions some way away from the hotel, but none as you got closer - so we eventually abandoned the car and walked around until we had located the hotel itself.

“ The hotel is fascinating as it is genuinely an old monastery but unfortunately it’s not as well looked after as it should be. The service was good and the staff friendly but it was obvious that they were short of staff. The restaurant is magnificent but the food average. Good for a one night stopper on your way to Cordoba or Sevilla but don't leave the hotel as there is nothing to see in Palma del Rio. The price was just right for what the hotel has to offer.

The hotel is located in the heart of Cordoba, just 10 minutes' walk from the Jewish Quarter and the Alcazar. The main shopping area and train station are a short walk away. All 114 well equipped bedrooms are decorated in a 1970's style. The hotel also has a restaurant, bar and café.

Constructed in 2005 in the style of an old Andalusian farmhouse, the hotel combines simple external design and interiors decorated with the typical style elements of a Renaissance palace. “ Lovely Hotel. You can see the hotel from a long way off on the approach motorway-but finding the "entrance" is difficult. it is off a small roundabout then a dangerous turn in.
