Balmes Hotel

“ basic but clean ,food nice and varied but always cold,although a microwave was on hand. no entertainement on in hotel. staff friendly no major problems .

“ Top Tip: beach not far and train station near so able to go to santa susanna for 5.30 euros return for two adults,also to barcelona two adults return for 15.00 euros!only down side beggars on the train.

“ Hotel was in a great location near to the beach and was at the quieter end of the strip where there were shops and pubs etc. Situated in more of a residential area so was mostly quite at night time. Beach was very clean. Mostly used by locals.
Self catering room was well equipped. Plenty of linen and kitchen equipment all in working order.
There was quite a few ants climbing onto the bed on the first night. We ended up using insect repellent wipes under the end of each leg of the bed to keep them away. We did highlight this to reception who said the cleaners would tend to it but nothing happened. No big deal as we sorted it ourselves anyway.
The floor in the room was quite gritty with dust and dirt, would expect this to be cleaned for us arriving. Had to wear socks to stop my feet turning black! Only negative thing about the room really. Bathroom was lovely, shower was great too and worked really well. Air con worked great too.
All in all, the hotel was great for what we paid for it. Would stay again as its in an ideal location for us.
Wouldnt recommened this for younger groups as its not really near all the crazy nitelife. Probably not much fun stuff about for young kids either to be honest. Best for people looking for somewhere quiet and who really wants away from your typical package holiday.

“ Top Tip: Would recommend paying a vist to the patisseries and the wee bars nearby Balmes Hotel before heading up to the busy end of the town. Very quiet but very welcoming and cheap. Everyone we met was lovely.

“ the hotel is good, the apartments are very well equiped, including ceiling fans, which was a luxury, be warned though, it is at least a 30 minute walk into the main resort of calella, the hotel is situated in a residential area so it is nice and quiet.

“ Top Tip: couldn't find any decent eating places, the food tends to be more snacky than proper meals so if you like a nice eating out experience, you will not find it in calella.

“ lovely quite hotel, good food catered for all countries, was surprised and delighted at the selection for breakfast and dinner.nice seating area for you to relax in, pool and spa lovely and clean, no entertainment though, but sometime thats a bonus as it was great to sit out till12 just relaxing. would go back, if the price was right.

“ Top Tip: train station only 5 minutes away, and there is a market on nearly every day at different resors its only a couple of euros on the train. calella itself has a market on wednesday, 10 minute walk from hotel. all the shops and restaurants are pretty close so you dont have to travel far to find what your looking for.
