“ Arrived later than expected so had a few problems with our room being allocated to another, given a room that was already occupied!! then given another room in hotel which we were told would be changed the next day if we did not like it. Unfortunately it was an internal room with a view of a wall and heating ducts from kitchen - as with all hotels there are always a few rooms like this. Room was changed as promised next day and was much better. Hotel staff were fantastic about the change. The hotel common areas were spotlessly clean and looked great for a 2* hotel. Roof pool & terraces were also spotless. Rooms cleaned daily and all cleaning staff were very polite to us. Rooms were fairly basic but clean with plenty of storage space. Food hall was way beyond what we expected and again wonderfully clean and waiting staff were very efficient and a credit to the hotel. Food choice for a 2* was excellent and on a par with 4* hotels we have stayed in and better than all the 3* ones we have also been to. Just an easy 10 min walk to seafront and station. Multi-Nation hotel so works very well with the mix of food etc. Overall we had probably our most enjoyable holiday to date at the Merce and are hoping to return next year especially when you consider the value this hotel is. We heard the hotel is having an overhaul in the close season so should be even better.
“ Top Tip: It is a lovely promenade and well worth taking a stroll into neighboring Calella. Stevens bar (run by a local Catalan Guy) and the Buccaneer (British Bar) are good pubs. Try the bar/cafe near the Buccaneer for lovely Tapas. October is also the Pineda Folk festival time and we were lucky enough to see it. Rooms to front of Hotel have nice view of church but depends on whether the bells annoy you or not (get used to them after a couple of days) some rooms have No balcony or internal ones (but most of these are still OK). We had a side room and were happy with it.
