The problem that we encountered was excessive noise from the hotel lifts (elevators) and our room was adjacent to the lifts.
I asked if something could be done to rectify the problem and was told there were no rooms available so we couldn't move away from the problem and the lift was still creaking/groaning at the end of our stay.
“ Top Tip: Plenty of good small pubs/resturants around the hotel, also street market along from the hotel on Tuesdays excellent.

Stayed in Riviera for a week and were happily surprised after reading other reviews. The hotel was clean, rooms cleaned daily, towels changed daily. The staff was friendly and very helpful (also speaking English). Had a full board basis and all the time were having no problems about the food because all the time there was something nice to eat (big choice too).
The swimming pool clean, its area was cleaned every evening (had a room facing it). Lack of entertainment, but it wasn't a problem cause there are loads of places to go.
The location is perfect to visit Barcelona by train (about 10 mins walk to the nearest station), also close to the beach.
All in all we were happy choosing Riviera for holidays
“ Top Tip: Cheap travel by train to Barcelona (7.70 euro return ticket). Pub Aloha close to the hotel which offers 1 litre of beer for 3 euro, long drinks for 6 euro (turn first street on your right just behind the Alhambra hotel - you can't miss it)

We had a one day stay here, last year, and was quietly impressed. BIG MISTAKE. Overall the Hotel is lovely and clean, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we was in, had only two plug sockets, one inbetween the beds, and the other outside the bathroom, which was as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
The Hotel, during our stay, was "rammed", so the dining facilities were very strained, and the food offer was very basic and not of the same quality like other 3 star Hotels in the Malgrat/S.Susana area. Food choice was also very limited.
“
Top Tip:
Champion's Bar in Malgrat. Mark runs a great bar and its definately the cheapest in both resorts.
Let the train take the strain

Just got back from a very comfortable 3 night stay full board at the Riveria Hotel. I am not sure if it was just that the weather was so good, but I felt a very good vibe from the rest of the guests. I think it is a favourite with the Dutch. In fact I would go as far to say that I found this hotel to be excellent. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Santa Susanna and Costa Brava and the Riveria far outshines. The hotel is spotless - cleaners contantly cleaning. The hotel has many rooms, but only 6 floors, but the lifts are excellent. One of the lifts takes you all the way up to the 6th floor and is glass facing the pool area. The food was excellent - with a good choice - meat and fish. Some of the dishes like stuffed corgettes were delicious. You have to pay for drinks at this hotel, but you can buy a bottle of wine and they keep it for you for the next time you visit. I bought one small bottle of red wine which lasted me 2 out of the 3 nights. The walls are a bit thin, but so are most of the hotels in Costa Brava. The hotel is also on the main stretch, so there are a lot of night time revellers, but as the hotel is set back, once your door is closed it is relatively quiet.
The room: The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed however was in an awkward position with not enough space between the wall. The balcony was lovely with a view able to see the revellers passing by.
My room had a tiny bath - but was thankful had a bath and shower!! The pressure of the water excellent. Soap is only put into the room on the first night.
The hotel: The reception staff are quite friendly, though some cannot speak English at all.
The Barstaff: Very serious, difficult to force a smile out of them.
There are a few pay-off-menu restaurant outside the hotel, but still part of the Riveria.
There are not many sun loungers and the pool is small in proportion to the size of the hotel, but there are lovely sun kissed terraces with tables and chairs where you can sit and take in all of the activity of the pool. You also have a Birds Eye View to the next hotel where they have entertainment almost everynight, where people do 'The Twist' dance ballroom and have a lot of fun....!!
The beach is literally over the road. Just go through underpass and you are there!! The sand on the beach is gravelly which can be a bit annoying.
Some of the goods sold in the shops are way too expensive!!
I would recommend this hotel for a nice relaxing break and affordable price!!

Top Tip:
Cheap Cigarettes just a few yards from the hotel and money exchange with good rate. Look out for Tabacs sign.
Water was around 1.30 Euro, and was very nice quality water. You can get a half pint for 1 Euro and pint 1.95 until 9pm at night
There are a few British pubs around - The Ship near the beach plays football.
Turn left out of the hotel and keep walking until you come to a cafe. It is painted green and has an outside eating area with a canopy. Inside the cafe there are a set of stairs. Up these stairs there is an Internet Cafe. 1 Euro for 15 minutes - a bit longer than that of the hotel (you buy the ticket and log on at the counter in the cafe before going upstairs). You can also use the printer.
