“ Having stayed on three previous occations the overall standards was good, a few things were getting a bit tired, ie sun beds. The standards of dress for the evening meals in the restaurent has been relaxed so people can wear any clothing they wish not like before when long trousers were the order for evening meals,I don't know if this a good thing or not, after all this suppose to be a 4 star hotel. Being the only english people in the hotel once again I found this a plus as this was a real Spanish holiday. The food was good and the staff were excellant, we will be going there again without a doubt. The location is great and the beach very good.
“ Top Tip: We needed a car to get there from the airport so we traveled by car to a couple of fantastic places a little way from the hotel. We went up to Ermita church the veiws are amazing and we went to Tortosa to see the cathedral and castle, this is a must to see but beware the cathedral is shut on a Monday,

“ We have recently returned from the Gran Hotel Peniscola and the general opinion is that it is a very good quality tourist hotel. I would say that some Brits may not rate it as 4* but it is certainly 3*+. The pool is nice but not that big in relation to the number of rooms but the reason for this is because there is 3 miles of glorious beach 10 yards from the entrance of the hotel! The furniture in our room was adequate and the room was kept very clean by the maid. We also had a fridge to keep drinks cold if enjoying some time on the balcony. The reception staff were helpful and they arranged some food for us after the restaurant had closed on our arrival as we got there later than planned. We weren't interested in the hotel entertainment as we like to walk and explore after dinner so can't comment on that. I would point out that we went on the 10 October and the resort in general was closing down although there was a Spanish bank holiday the weekend we arrived. I would say that the resort is ideal for families and older couples as the youngsters may find club/disco entertainment hard to come by. The other thing to point out is that at this time of year the hotel is mainly made up of Spanish and French pensioners and it's possible that some dishes on the buffet reflected this. There were very few English people at the hotel and amazingly the waiters weren't fluent in our language which we found refreshing but had no problem in getting what we wanted. We only saw one sign for 'English Breakfast' in the whole resort and and little in the way of 'Burgers', 'Fish and Chips', 'Roast Sunday Lunch' or other traditional Brit fayre, so yes folks it is Spain! What a joy! The overall cleanliness of the hotel was very good and the room and balcony we had was superb, roomy and comfortable. The food was very good although some dishes were a bit strange. Good breakfast with cold and hot choices. We found lunch to be the best choice including a paella on every day and there were plenty of salads for lunch and dinner. There is the possibility that the hotel was catering for the age group in the choices on offer. Desserts weren't up to much apart from rice pudding, creme caramel and lovely ripe melon. The hotel stands next to a beautiful 3 mile beach and the promenade is a delight to walk, with Benicarlo about 30 mins walk away and the heart of Peniscola 45 minutes. I would book the hotel again and recommend it to others. Top tip - if your driving, the hotel is nearer to Benicarlo than Peniscola so head there.
“ Top Tip: Very nice little bar called La Isla which is 15 mins walk towards Peniscola.

“ Hotel facilities very good although geared up mainly for spanish/french touristsof which 99% of the guests are.Meals buffet style, plenty of choice.Hotel is approx 2.5 miles from centre of peniscola though pleasant walk along the promenade. All in all very relaxing break but do not go to this part of spain if you want all night disco bars, fast food outlets etc.
“
Top Tip:
Make sure you visit the castle in peniscola -terriffic views and rooms all for 2.5 euros!.
Benicarlo has nice beach, Vinarol good for a a stroll round.

“ \The hotel was OK. At the time of our visit (October) it was full of Spanish and French pensioners for the majority of the time, which made mealtimes a bit of a battle of the buffet!. When the coaches departed there was an air of tranquility about the place!. Good sized clean rooms with an excellent indoor spa and wellness centre..
“ Top Tip: Get a car unless you are happy with a 3km walk to the centre of resort, admittedly along a nice flat promenade. The buses to and from, in the autumn, are not that frequent.
