The hotel is always busy from morning until late at night, there is always some kind of activity/ entertainment going on, so if you like doing things this is the place for you.
The food is excellent, the beach is lovely goes on for miles. The hotel is probably 50/50 Spanish/ German. The only problem is everyone puts towels out from early in the morning onto the loungers, then tend to go out for the day to the beach so it is very annoying, when you want a lounger.

First the positive points, check-in was quick and the reception staff friendly, the rooms and hotel in general were clean and of a good standard.
On the negative side, during the 5 days we stayed there we found the hotel to be very busy, especially with Spanish families, and not a place you could relax in. It was generally noisy and restaurant service was somewhat chaotic. Some of the bar staff could do with customer service lessons.
The food was edible but lacked imagination, and was reminiscent of school dinners at times. For a 4* hotel it wasn't good enough.
Will we come back? NO
Recommend it? Not to personal friends unless they have kids.
This is a family hotel and not a great experience for couples. The Barcelo next door was a lot nicer!
This has put us off of Riu hotels now.

Very big complex/resorts,and even in March was busy, but run extermely efficiently. The room ( 3776) was of a good standard overlooking to the pool and the sea, with nice size balcony and very clean.
Excellent quality of food and drinks all fresh and well presented .
The sandy beach was fantastic and only 5 minute walk from the hotel,

Top Tip:
The sandy beach was fantastic and only 5 minute walk from the hotel,
Sancti Petteri village just about 2 miles away from the hotel ,around half an hour walk, worth a visit, nice small shopping centre

“ The Riu Chiclana is brilliantly placed next to the very long stretch of beach. (The walk down to the beach is not suitable for the less able bodied). The staff are very efficient, pleasant and friendly. The facilities are extensive with three different buffet style restaurants, evening entertainment and various sporting activities. Our room (2564) over looked the pool and beach but was also close to the restaurants; we even had a 'drinks station' and bar on the ground level next to our accomodation block (number 25) - all perfect! The food choices were varied enough for our one week stay, and the freshness of the food was second to none! The all inclusive deal is excellent, particularly with the Euro rate and recently risen costs in Europe, I would highly recommend AI at the moment.
“
Top Tip:
There is only one small shop on site so it's worth a taxi ride (5 euros - 2km - each way) to the small shopping centre ('Commercial Centre') for more choice of souvenirs, beach/sports wear, gifts and a small supermarket.
Our trip was end of May-beg June and we were delighted that dusk doesn't happened til 10pm which gave us lots of daylight hours, plus the bonus of late night swims in the sea!

“ The food, service and staff were excellent. Very helpful and happy. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Towels were changed every day and maids made lots of effort making shapes out of the towels and tissue. It was a pleasure to find these each day. The only negative thing about the room was that because the rooms were outside of the main hotel, the stone floor to the bathroom was cold in Feb but would be a blessing in the hot summer. Drinks were of a high quality for an all inclusive and we would definitely recommend this hotel.
“ Top Tip: It is definitely worth a trip to Conil old beach where a lovely fish restaurant can be found. It was nearly fully booked even in Feb which tells how good the food is.
