La Fonda Hotel

“ We have stayed in this hotel many times before its refurbishment, and glad to say that it is now even better than before. Exc. accommodation in a beautiful traditional building, spotlessly clean, excellent breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. Worthy of 4 stars. A very tranquil stay in a beautiful village. Three good bars in the nearby square and a few good restaurants, all within easy walking distance. Would gladly recommend to any of my friends and will definitely return

“ Top Tip: Three good bars in the square, within a five minute walk from hotel. Here you can enjoy good food, reasonably priced under the shade of the orange trees fronting each of the bars, and watch the world go by.

“ .Hotel wasn't open,so we finally stayed in the third apt they showed us. Apart from that everything was great. The village was fantastic. We intend to return , hopefully to the Hotel Fonda.

Whilst I appreciate the minimal cost for two nights stay, the location is isolated high on the mountains which was a two & a half hour walk down hill to the coast.
As a stranger not familiar with the area knowing how to find the local attractions was arduous to say the least.
On arrival at the La Fonda offices/reception I was supplied with a map of the further walking distance to the studio apartment dragging my suit cases over curbs poor conditioned roads down hills, you get the understanding I am sure!
On arrival at the out buildings I learned that I needed to check each door entrance along the way on the 20mm x 5mm numbers to each of the doors to find the one the key would fit! more like a treasure trail! But the condition of the studio apartment was far from being treasure more like "La Farma". A small dark room with one 4ft x 4ft window fitted with bars and security blind, Dark green sofa which was not in its best condition and a musty smell of the room. Directly walking out in search of better accommodation as this had nothing to offer even in the immediate area. After 2 & half hours walking I found a hotel on the coast.

Service with a smile. clinical room maintenance with those little en-suite extras at no further cost. Sea view from three elevations of the Hotel & good choice on the menus. Breakfast is outstanding.
9 out of 10 for this hotel also available from Travel Republicans. wish I had looked harder whilst booking the break. Loads of local restaurants’ and superb coast hugging pathways from the hotel to beyond Torremolinos. Huge harbour with masses of power boats and lined with shops and Cafes.
