Best Triton Hotel

“ Have just returned from our annual ladies of a certain age long weekend away, this year we decided to stay at The Triton, it is a lovely hotel the rooms large and spotless. The spa in the hotel was fantastic and well worth the extra money to use it. Location was great a walk ( not the best if you can not do steps) to the marina, the beach etc,.... Sadly this hotel is greatly let down by its food and staff in the restaurant, we stayed half board for three nights so it was not just a one off that the food was bad, ranging from uncooked omelettes to cold food, to queuing for hot drinks at breakfast. Evening meal i was given a half cooked piece of fish, while this was 'cooking' i was horrified to watch the chef add (using the fork for the raw fish !) uncooked chopped chicken to the already partly cooked chicken.. and then serving it up together.. needless to say we ate out the rest of the holiday ...such a shame because this could be an amazing hotel if food and staff (not very helpful) in the restaurant where sorted out.

“ On arrival we were disappointed with the view from our room, we informed reception and were moved within 10 minutes. The staff on reception were very polite and spoke english which was very helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed. The dining room was clean and the food well presented with good variety of dishes. The hotel is positioned on the beach and within a couple of minutes walk from shops, restaraunts and the marina. We did not come across any play area for kids in the hotel, but there was four pools which were cleaned every day and the grounds kept very well. All in all the only disappointment was the weather the hotel was great.

“ Top Tip: To the left when you go through the security gate on the beach is a nice italian cafe where you can get a toastie, with side salad n chips with a cup of tea for 3 euros - very nice aswell.

“ This is a very good hotel in an excellent location. The room was a decent size for the 3 of us (2 adults and 12 year old) and was cleaned each day. The breakfasts were excellent in terms of volume and variety of food avaiable. The only quibbles were that some of the hot food was a bit on the greasy side and the drinks machines took a bit of getting used to! The pool area was very pleasant with 2 big pools, a childrens pool and a jacuzzi. Unfortunately the weather was not warm enough to venture in though! There was entertainment in the bar area each night although I would say that it was not the best I have ever seen. There is a good mix of nationalities staying in the hotel which gives a good cosmopolitan and sophisticated air.

“ Top Tip: Plenty of bars and restaurants near the hotel. We ate at the Pasadoble and Cabana which are just a few metres away from the bottom entrance to the hotel along the pedestrianised promenade. Both these have good set menus including drinks. The Paralegia in the marina area is a nice Italian restaurant also specialising in crepes.
The bus stops just outside the hotel on the main road for Fuengirola and Marbella. However the train service is a more pleasant way to get around although the station is quite a walk uphill through the Paloma Park (a nice relaxing area which has the atmosphere of a genuine city park).
If you like animals then you should visit the Selwo Dolphin marina and the Bioparc in Fengirola. A cable car trip up the mountains to the bird of prey snactuary is another excellent trip.
