“ Location of hotel ( which was almost empty) was perfect, near to shops and all amenities. No reception area, that is at the Duna Parque hotel across the road. Staff there fantastic. Hotel room a bit dirty and scruffy, lock on front door very dodgy and we had to put a chair under doorknob to feel secure at night. Fridge was filthy and sticky but we cleaned it rather than make a fuss. Cleaner (very friendly) came every day but Sunday, towels changed daily (except Sunday) and sheets changed after three days which was really appreciated. Garden and pool area wonderful, quiet and clean. Holiday taxi company was ok when we arrived, drivers on both trips were polite and helpful, but having to phone to book return trip to airport was a hassle. They didn't answer the phone all Tuesday afternoon which spoilt our last afternoon as we had to keep remembering to try and contact them. Eventually I asked the hotel receptionist to do it and he sorted it out for us just before their office closed at 6pm. Definitely will use Travel Republic again and will book the same hotel again in September this year for its location alone.

“ Top Tip: If you want to savour the Canarian way of life, avoid the british bars and restaurants and look for Spanish bars and places to eat in the back streets (where you will not be ripped off and will be made very welcome). There is a spanish cafe under the clock tower in Calle Anzuelo, Avelina's restaurant down by the harbour, and do try Big Ben gift shop in Calle Anzuelo for very reasonably priced gifts and souvenirs to bring home.
