We really enjoyed our stay at the Palace Hotel. Great choice of good quality food and unlike some hotels, they managed to keep it hot! Staff very cheerful and helpful. We had an economy room, which had no sea view, which we knew when we booked. It was very comfortable and clean, and the advantage of a room facing the wrong way was getting sun on our balcony late afternoon. One drawback was quite a lot of traffic noise. The other was a connecting door with the adjacent room. We had no trouble with this as it happens, but noisy neighbours could have been a problem, as we discovered at another hotel. I think customers should be warned of this set up when booking.
The activation team worked really hard and switched readily from one language to another. Not many English could manage that! We were surprised at the effort put into some of the evening entertainment, but be warned a lot is in German. There was a great Beatles tribute band( in English) which we enjoyed.
While the hotel is suitable for older people, the walk down to the sea, which is really the only way out on foot, involves a steepish slope and steps.
We read some comments about "the Germans" before booking, and it is true that virtually all the guests are German as are most of those in the Jandia region. We didn't find this a problem at all, and the hotel staff did not treat us any differently. But you did have to accept that you would be addressed in German by staff and other guests, as the default position, until you told them you were English. Seemed common sense to us!

Top Tip:
The walk into Morro Jable was nice and flat, with shops and cafes on the way. Look out for the Chipmunks, and Egrets. There are cafes and basic toilets on the beaches. There are some nice clean public toilets above the shops, opposite the lighthouse, next to the English Pub, (the Boot and Ball, I think).
If you are fit, the walk to Pico de la Zarza 805 metres high, and on the other side of the island, is well worth the effort, with some fantastic views. The path starts at the side of the Barcelo hotel, and is labelled from the seafront. Round trip about 10 miles. No shade.
The only bus timetables you will find are for the 01, 05 and 25. but there is also a very handy local bus labelled L1/2/3 which goes round the resorts, and Morro Jable, including the Ibero Palace.

Bit hit and miss this hotel. In general staff were very good, very hard working and pleasant. The only exception were the reception staff, brusque and dismissive. Not good enough for a four-star hotel.
Food was about as good as can be expected on half board in a hotel of this size. pleasant and interesting with lots of choice.
There aren't enough lifts for floors 1-3 which meant a wait, sometimes about 5 minutes and on one occasion 10 minutes for a very small and temperamental lift. This is a big problem at meal times. Parking is also very poor, not enough spaces and no layout lines, since the average driver cannot park properly anyway loads of space was wasted. It's also very easy to miss the tiny slip road into the huge Iberostar complex, needs much better signage.
Internet access is laughable, only by reception and then very expensive. I had to use it and was frankly hacked off. This is the 21st century and we should be able to access it in the rooms. Very poor.
On check out we were told we could not pay by cc as they had a problem. We could traipse over to the the sister hotel as long as someone came with us or pay by cash which we had to do. Again not good enough for a four star hotel.
The location is fantastic, right by the beach and near to Morro Joble. Couldn't fault it. Pool area is good and well managed.
Despite reservations I would go back to this hotel because of the location.

“ Good 4* standard hotel. Spotlessly clean. Staff very helpful and cheerful. The only fault was that the air conditioning in the room was not up to standard.
“ Top Tip: Check aircon in room immeiately and ask for different room if not functioning efficiently.
