“ For 2 stars it was fine. Plenty of space and friendly staff on arrival. Map needed a bit of adding to but locals helped us find our way and added in the missing streets. It was clean and tidy and suited us fine.

Fantastic City, Fantastic Location, Fantastic accomodation.
We had a fantastic Honeymoon here in Gerona at the Hap Dreams.
There were a few small glitches with the appartment as there were a few bulbs not working and the shower screen wash damaged. We were not mailed the code for the key box on our arrival, but I called Travel Republic and they sorted that before we got to that stage.
The location is on a hill so be ready for some serious walking, cars can get to the apartments but they must be very small as the alleyway (as it can't be called a road) is very narrow 1.6 Meters or 5'4" Wide.
There is everything for any type of holiday from easy access to trains and busses that are very cheap, they will take you to anywhere all with a regular service. Taxis are very expensive. Ladies Do not take high heels, the steps will kill you, good strong walking shoes or boots only.

Top Tip:
Take a day out to Barcelona on the train, the station is a 10 minute down hill walk (remember this when you come back as it's much harder heading home!) It costs 12 Euros for a trian return to Barcelona (1.5 hour trip) but watch out as there is a MD service that you can also get which is faster but does cost 4 Euro's more each way.
If you want to eat in Gerona it's very reasonable and there are some excellent restraunts for every pallet. Barcelona is very pricy for the same quality, so do watch out, especially on drinks prices!

The apartments are wonderful for those that want a bit more freedom. They are large with a separet bathroom and bedroom. Enough equipment to russtle up a decent breakfast. Close to all the pubs and restaurants for lunch/dinner/drinks. They also have a lovely garden to sit out in with a drink. Close to the town walls, which are a really nice walk.
Only negative would be for those with difficulty walking, as the apartments are up many many steps, which we enjoyed however.
There is a lift close by, but we never mnaged to find it.
All in all, lovely quaint apartment in a wonderfully quaint town.
Mr Ahmed the Manager was very helpful when assisting us with a problem (we locked ourselves out of the room safe!)
Very enjoyable......

Top Tip:
The ARTUSI restaurant was excellant valus for money. The menu was in English also. The service, ambiance, and of course the food was very good.
The Cafe Le Bistro was a nice little place for a drink before setting out for some food. A beer and a sml glass of wine was 5 Euro, but the setting was in the middle of the medievil steps that led up/down not far from the apartments. Never got to eat here.

“ The accomodation was excellent. A bit far from the station but close to the old city. The staff is indifferent.
“ Top Tip: Girona surprised me. Beautiful city and food. If the weather is hot take one day or two to go to Platja D'aro (by bus from the station) and the various 'Calas' around.

A lovely apartment - ours (no 11) at the front of the building had a fantastic view out across the old town and over to the mountains in the distance so we didn't even mind not having one of the rear ones facing the garden. The young man managing the apartments (who also lives in one) was cheerful and helpful and answered all our questions on arrival.
Finding the apartments is a little complicated but easy when you know where they are! The easiest way to get to the road they are on, Portal Nou, is to go up in the street elevator (open 08:00-20:00) then walk up the small hill, turn right then left past 2 garages. Follow the street round the corner to the left and the apartments are on the right. I am being really detailed here as we walked up and down Portal Nou and didn't think to go up this almost separate road. A local lady helped us out!
The apartments are in a great location and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone unless you have difficulty walking uphill on cobbled streets with lots of steps!

Quite by chance, we were there for the start of the annual 10-day flower festival and wow-I have never seen anything like it! Public and private buildings are obliged to open to the public and there are the most fabulous displays, exhibitions, creations displayed all over Girona (especially around the old town and the Cathedral). http://www.gironatempsdeflors.net will give you a flavour.
Bike hire - there is a brilliant, recently opened (March 2010) bike hire shop currently run by an Englisg guy and a Dutch girl, Dave and Saskia - http://www.gironacyclecentre.com/ They will provide EVERYTHING you need for a leisurely ride or serious cross-country/downhill/race mountain-bike trip. Recommend taking the Greenways cycle path from Girona to Sant Feliu de Guixols and the sandy beaches of the Costa Brava - about a 4hr ride in beautiful traffic-free countryside. Then, if you don't fancy the return trip, you can put your bike on the coach back to Girona. Brilliant day out.
