“ Had booked a non smoking room but was given a smoking room on the second floor, this room had more marks on the walls than paint, dirty carpet and it absolutely stank. Immediately asked to be moved and was allocated a non smoking interior room on the first floor, no natural light but as least it was clean and smoke free. The hall and stair carpet was threadbare and stained. The best bit was the breakfast room which was lovely and the breakfast was excellent. Had not paid a fortune for this hotel but was disappointed with it given the reviews although the location could not be faulted. Needs money spent on it and would not stay again.

The hotel staff were very friendly and the room was more than suitable for our purpose. There was a lovely large bathroom and the shower was fantastic.
The breakfasts are very good with superb coffee and a good range of meats and doughnuts!
The hotel is in a great position, just over the bridge and you can explore the old town and you can walk to the train and bus station which are together.The area had unusually cold/snowy weather (March 2010) but the room heating did not appear to come on till approx 6/6.30pm so it was a bit cool when you came back in the evening.
But only real complaint for what was a very pleasent stay would be that the hotel has a back door which is big and heavy it closes automaticly causing a loud bang every time it is used, which is often. So the tip would be get a room that is away from the noise!

Top Tip:
Don't eat on the main shopping street (Santa Clara) as it is expensive especially the Italian.
Go to the Placa Independencia where there are lots of reasonablr tapas resturants.

“ hotel peninsular was in an ideal location to explore girona, and near the bus station. plenty of shops and bars nearby. the hotel itself was very clean, hotel room was huge and very warm which was great as it was -2 outside. staff very friendly and helpful.
“ Top Tip: nice wee restaurant staright across from the entrance, not very fancy but good food and very reasonable. 27 euros two mains bottle of wine two brandies and two coffees superb

This hotel comprises a total of 53 rooms spread of which 5 are singles, 45 are double rooms and 3 are suites. Guests may make use of the spacious foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, safe, currency exchange desk, lift, a conference room and TV room. In addition, there is a cosy bar, a cafe, a hairdresser's salon and an e la carte restaurant. Room and laundry services are also available and a playground and car parking facilities are to be found outside of the hotel.
“ The hotel was low cost and in general represented good value for money for the price paid. The good things about the hotel were friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and the decor although old and suffering from wear and tear summoned up a sense of post-war spacious elegance, particularly the staircase.

The welcoming hotel comprises a total of 45 rooms. Guests are offered a reception, a cosy bar and an air-conditioned restaurant. A laundry service and Wifi is also offered. With an additional charge clients can use the hotel car park.

The Meliá Golf Vichy Catalán (open April 2006) is located in the heart of the PGA Golf Catalunya, alongside Caldes de Malavella, a spa resort on the Costa Brava in notheast Spain. Although modern in design, decorated in warm and welcoming colours and employing superior quality materials, the hotel is superbly integrated in its natural environment and combines perfectly with the two golf courses in the resort. The location is 15 km. from the city of Girona, a great starting point for visiting the beaches on the Costa Brava, 40 km. from France, and 85 km. from cosmopolitan Barcelona. Girona airport is only 7 km. away
“ We spent four days in the Hotel Melia Golf Vichy Catalan and we found the staff very friendly. The breakfast on the outside terrace was very nice, and has lovely views. The breakfast food is great, a fantastic buffet of cold meats,cheeses, fruits, yogourts, etc or a full english breakfast.

“ The bedroom was very spacious and the ensuite was a good size. There was good noise insulation so I had a peaceful and comfortable nights sleep. I did not have breakfast at the hotel and the restaurant was closed as it was a Sunday evening, so I cannot comment on the food
