Ultonia Hotel

“ This hotel was the best one of my trip, the staff were really friendly, spoke excellent English (embarrassingly my Spanish isn’t so good), great location, we were able to check in as soon as we got there which was 11.30 in the morning!

The room was extremely comfortable, very clean and nicely presented.

The only tiniest quibble I have (and this really is not much) is that the TV only has a few channels in English, we didn’t stay out late as this was our last night of a two week trip and we had an early flight so we were just going to watch a bit of TV before an early night.

It was great hotel though and I have already started to recommend it to family and friends.

“ Hotel location was very good, only a few minutes from the old city quarter. The staff were, polite, attentive and welcoming. We stayed in the Hotel Ultonia not the Gran Ultonia (which incidentially is in the same building) - which was clean, respectable and comfortable. We would happily recommend this hotel to anyone that is staying in Girona for a few days… it is a city that we'll definitely visit again soon.

“ We stayed one night stay at this hotel. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. Free Wifi BUT a 15 euro pn car parking charge in an underground secure car park. However, be aware that there are two Ultonias in the same building, one a 4 star and the other a 3 star with prices and standards varying accordingly. Our room was in the 3 star and was in urgent need of a makeover. You almost had to be a contortionist to use the bathroom! Facilities were advertised which were not open or not yet available! Breakfast was buffet style but featured the coldest scrambled egg, bacon and sausage I can remember! It was almost inedible until I persuaded the waitress to warm it for me in a microwave.
Would not recommend staying in the 3 star version for more than the one night stopover we arranged. Having said all of that it is very conveniently placed for the centre of Old Girona - a must see! This is the only reason we would consider revisiting the Ultonia.

“ Great location a few minutes from old town. Room decor dated but view overlooking main street was ok. Wasn't made clear when asked about parking at check-in - was told it was 10 euros per day but when checked out was charged 15 euros as was per day and night (even though it was clear that we had booked for a certain number of nights). Car park entrance underground in a street near to hotel, quite easy to locate and carpark space size ok. Able to park outside to drop-off only.
Expensive drinks in very modern roof top bar - 18 euros for 2 martinis.

“ Top Tip: Breakfast in square close to hotel very nice. Walking along the old city wall has lovely views of the old town.
