Riu Palace Meloneras Hotel

“ Hotel very clean, as were the rooms, and also comfortable and quiet. Be careful if you book a garden villa though, which we did, as you could be stuck right out on the very edge of the grounds with no view and overlooked by another hotel. We did eventually get moved (after 2 days) to one by the pool with sea view. There are two good sized pools and although the usual culprits seem to get up in the middle of the night to put towels on sun beds there were still plenty available. The reception service can be a bit hit and miss. For example, we booked a wake up call on day of departure and didn't get one, but the waiters are all really friendly and can't do enough for you. If you have a drink in the hotel bar/terrace ask for Martin - he'll have you in stitches. The official evening entertainment program isn't bad, but the standard seems to have slipped a bit from last year, but would stay there again.

“ Top Tip: Maspalomas sand dunes, Casa paco restaurant near to beach. Also Banderas restaurant, both excellent.

“ Hotel very clean impressive service, pool cold though not heated as stated, very German hotel very few English, Italian and French. TV poor only 4 English channels 2 of which are the news. Catered for Germans mainly. Entertainment low end cruise ship stuff, bit boring and the cast is the same all week but in disguise (you would need to see it for yourself to believe it) Fresh clean pool towels when ever you want them up till 2pm each day, loads of sun beds free all day long not too many reserves down as hotel frowns on this and make it clear saving beds all day when not in use will not be tolerated. Very quiet pool area no music you can hear a pin drop most days all days very relaxing. Not for families they would be afraid to make any noise here. Age range older clientele, not for the fun at heart but if you want to relax and not get into conversations with others and mix then it is perfect. Food is good very good variety, mini bar cheap and so are drinks at any of the bars. We went to the Losean for a look around and had a beer and an orange at the pool bat there cost us 8E very expensive!
The rooms are frsh and good athough 140 rooms in the main block are standard rooms and only 30 of these look inwards, the others have views of other hotels and the shops( not good ) and no sun either in a lot of the rooms at this hotel.

“ Top Tip: Close to everything at hand, good cheap supermarkets, great reasonable restaurants, to very expensive designer clothes and jewellery shops. Very much the upper class resort. No trouble police very visible, whole place impeccably clean and beautifully maintained resort. Very close to beach 7 min walk.
