This is a three star hotel but with a superb location. It feels as if you are out at sea. Fantastic views, absolutely brilliant. However, everything else is 3 star for the Canaries. The rooms are quaint (some might find them dated) but they are essentially Canarian. The food is not brilliant for example a typical Canarian buffet consisted of Rabbit, Goat, Fish (that looked like it had been swimming only moments before) and Pork that resembled a part of the animal. Children would have found it difficult to find something appealing.
I choose this hotel because it was small and I hoped would have a friendly feel, however it was as inpersonal as a hugh 400 + room hotel. It probadly did not help that it has no bar to get to know others or just to 'chill' in the evening. The dining arrangements entailed sitting on long tables with others. And the drinks were pricey (6.50 euros for half a bottle of wine, 2 euros for a glass of coke)
Small improvements could be made if there was some nice Spanish music playing while you ate (rather than eating in silence) and that we could have eaten outside (there were actually tables outside but these were not used for dining!). To conclude: An absolutely brilliant location and worth going there for that. Also, right in the town with lots of good bars and restaurants within spitting distance. The staff were very nice, pool was lovely. Not suitable for children as they are not catered for on any level (I left my teenage son at home!).
If you hire a car beware as parking is limited. The carpark by the hotel charges 10 euros a day. However the you can park in the side streets (in the blue or white bays only) - you WILL get a parking ticket but just hand this into reception and they will sort if out so you do not get fined (so they said - fingers crossed!)
P.s. Breakfast is really very good, the best meal.
All in all worth a visit for the fabulous location - even considering the above I would go again as the location was breath-taking (but I might not go at Easter).

Top Tip:
'Cafe de Mogan' is a brilliant restaurant and worth a visit if you go - but book a table as it is always busy.(Two-course meal for two with drinks £110 euros - top-notch and over-looking the Marina)
The Friday'Lookey-lookey' market is expensive (e.g. 35 euros for a leather wallet and 18 euros for a beach towel!!!)
The supermarcado 2 mins away has cheaper drinkls (58 cents for a can of coke and the beer/wine was much cheaper. 38 cneter for a bottel of water - just get a load and put it in the fridge in your room)

“ Perfect location. Breakfasts fabulous. Evening meals - usually luke warm. OK if you like fish, but the meat options were usually casserole style with not enough hot vegetable accompaniments, just potatoes/chips/rice with salad which would be ok if it was just grilled meat but not for casseroles. Puerto Mogan was a beautiful location, I would definitely go back again. There were no tea making facilities so we bought an electric kettle whilst we were there. Overall very pleased with the holiday.

Top Tip:
Market day is on a Friday - definitely worth a visit, just a short stroll from the hotel.
The restaurants along the beach front were cheaper than the harbour front, however we visited the Irish restaurant and had a lovely lasagne for 6.50 euros.
If you like snorkelling, went swimming off the steps at the back of the hotel and if you follow the line of rocks out to the breakwater saw a good variety of fish.
