Heliomar Apartments

“ Top Tip: eat at bonanza top floor right by the steps they are great there go to steves bar uglys bar both very cheap and great fun

“ Our apartment (614)was part of a well designed 2 story multi-block arrangement.It was basic with no air conditioning,but spotlessly clean.There is no cooker just a two-ring hob,but you dont go on holiday to cook (ha ha).It is enough to make a cuppa which was fine by us.There was a good size fridge/freezer which we kept well stocked with ice (which we bought from the Spa shop,big bag very cheap)plus 5 litres of water about 1 euro.The beds were hardish but we slept well.The one big thing for me is the shower after a hot day out,and ours was BRILLIANT!! it was powerfull and instant.We had a nice patio area with a table and 4 chairs,with colourful flowering trees in our own little garden,lovely to sit out in and chill with a nice drink.In fact the whole apartment complex has very well stocked and maintained garden area.The pool is very clean with sun loungers,umbrellas kiddies pool and showers.The pool bar does a nice breakfast,pizza and bar meals with tables in and out.Overall for what an apartment is used for, Heliomar has an acceptable standard for 2 star,with a homely feel rather than 10 floors up in a larger hotel.N.B.From the road outside Heliomar there are 80 steps down to the main shopping center for bars/restaurants,not bad compared to alot of hotels.

“ Top Tip: There is so much choice for bars/restaurants and I'm sure it would be unlucky to find a bad one.But our recomendations for eating are:EL RANCHO (unbeatable steak).ALBATROS (3 coarse meal 7.95 euros)cheap but exellent quality and quantity.There is an English bar called ROYAL OAK if you fancy a pub quiz or bingo.But for a lively atmosphere,a warm welcome,exellent entertainment and an hilarious host Stevie Yorks "HARP IRISH BAR" is a must.We stayed for 12 nights and must have spent 8 in HARP.By the way were not even Irish,but the entertainment was a good mix of old and new.

“ the place was clean and ok for what we paid but there was no air conditioning available or no fans in the room and it was very hot! i prob wouldn't stay here again

“ Apartment as usual was excellent. Only problem and it is a big problem was that the apartments are now inundated with Canarian holiday makers from the top of the island during August. We had absolutely no issues with them but at 9am or before, every sunbed had their towels on them and they came and went all day yet the towels stayed in the same place. There were Irish people who had a run in with the Canarians and found them extremely rude etc. Forget using the pool tables during this time too as the locals sit on them, sunbathe on them and generally break in to them and steal what little money there is in them. However, as we go to these apartments all the time and ask for specific rooms, they didn't bother us one little bit. The hotel management are not slow in throwing troublemakers out either so if you do have trouble, then it will be resolved pronto. As always, I would recommend the Heliomar in Puerto Rico as a perfect base.

“ Top Tip: The rooms are always hot, so hire the fans. It makes a hell of a difference.
