“ Hotel in poor repair (digger parked outside our 'caves' entrance, lots of propping of sides of the road, etc). Room had not been aired at all, giving it a really musty smell, would have been fixed had the hotel opened the windows a for a few hours that day. However Guadix is a fantastic city so would recommend the town, virtually untouched by tourism.

“ My partner and I found the cave apartments quaint and charming. The constant temperature of 18-19 degrees was perfect and despite the fact that the motorway was very close, we heard no noise from it in the cave at all. We slept very well and enjoyed a very good view of the whole of the Guadix basin. The restaurant was astoundingly good value with huge portions. The equipment in the apartment was basic and could possibly be updated (cutlery, chopping boards, etc.). All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much.
“ Top Tip: The Barrio de las Cuevas in Guadix is certainly worth a visit, with all the white chimney tops poking out of the clay. The Cave Museum was small but very interesting, showing a snapshot of daily cave life in days gone by. The Al Hambra in Granada is only a one hour drive away and is awesome.
