El Ciervo Hostel

“ The reason you book this hotel is simple. It is one of the cheapest places close to the ski runs. There are many cheaper and better places out of town, but if you want to stay 5 minutes walk from the lifts you expect to pay for it. We were delighted with this place. It is basic, and in no way glamorous, with cheap or sometimes scruffy furniture and bathroom fittings, but all the most important things are there: It is warm, clean, dry, has space for boards and skiis, a helpful reception, genuinely good food (half board is a good idea) and it was quiet at night. It may be described as a hostel, but it does feel like a hotel, especially given the waiter service at dinner!

“ Top Tip: Car parking! The main carparks in Sierra Nevada are very expensive, but there are often spaces ouside the hotel on the street. It's worth trying to bag one, even if it takes a little work. If you are staying a few days it will save you a fortune.

“ Hotel looked terrible from outside but inside was clean warm and comfortable. Excellent value for money and we ate there twice because the food was also good value for money.The breakfast choice was very good too. The staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Problem with our booking though as only one room was reserved and we paid for two. This was quickly sorted out by the reception staff.If you want a quick skiing holiday and are not bothered about five star hotels, try this hotel.

“ Top Tip: Bar next to the hotel was fantastic and served tapas with all drinks. We got friendly with the owner and the tapas got bigger and better!

“ As always El Ciervo was lovely and warm inside. The evening meal wasn't as good as the last time we stayed. On the whole, suitable for us as close to one of the lifts.

“ Helpful, nice breakfast, good sized rooms. Thoroughly enjoyable for the price.
