Went to the Insotel Club Tarida Beach as we had previously been to another Insotel Club Hotel on Menorca, so knew roughly what to expect. It's in a nice spot, very close to a lovely beach with an assortment of restaurants. On the plus side, rooms are extremely nice with a great balcony. Try to get a room near the lower pool if you want to be near the action but it gets noisy in the evening with the entertainment/music. If you want a quieter spot, get a room near the upper pool/reception. Each pool has it's own bar and sunbeds. On the negative side, the all inclusive buffet is boringly repetitive and not of a particularly high quality. You can try the other 3 restaurants on site as part of the all-inclusive deal (Pizza, Beachside grill & 'Sunset Paella' restaurant) by booking at reception the day before but they're all pretty dire. The pizza in fact was appalling. Which brings me to the big negative. The service at reception is the worst I have ever endured at any hotel anywhere in the world. Their attitude is one of 'I don't care' and the staff can be seen hiding in the office behind reception while massive queues build up of people trying to check-in or out, book trips etc. You can stand there for 40 minutes and be totally ignored by the staff who come out of the office, ensuring they don't make eye contact with you, shuffle some papers and then disappear again. I saw more than one customer blow a gasket at them for their surly attitude. The owners should do a 'mystery shop' to see for themselves - then sack the lot of them! A more useless bunch of employees I have never seen and it really really spoilt the hotel and I would never go back.

Top Tip: My Top Tip is 'Don't do the boat trip to Formentera' as it doesn't actually go TO Formentera, it goes 'near to' Formentera. It's a noisy old ferry boat with pounding music, only interrupted by the tour guide shouting at you very loud in Spanish, followed by the same in German, Italian, French then English if you ask (the hotel guests are mainly German and Italian). The boat anchors 200 yards offshore to let you swim then they feed you paella. You're a captive from 8.45am until 4pm and you only get to see Formentera in the distance even though their website says you get to disembark there. Not true and a waste of a complete day.
If you want to escape from the endless buffet meals, the little restaurant on the left as you walk onto the beach is very good at extremely sensible prices. They're open 9am to midnight.
