“ Went for a long weekend with the girls! Fab hotel if you are going for the nightlife! Its a bit out of the way but we did walk it each night and there are plenty of places to stop for a few drinks on the way! We wanted somewhere that was abit out of the way so we could get some sleep and wouldn't be kept awake all night by all the young ones! The hotel has a strict no noise policy and we didn't have any problems. I have 2 small children and wouldn't take them to this hotel as i didn't see any children whilst i was there so wouldn't really recommend for families but this may change once the school holidays start, i'm not sure?? The room was basic but clean, i cannot comment on the kitchen part as we didn't cook at all as there are plenty of places around where you can get something to eat relatively cheaply. The people that come to the pool to sell tickets to the clubs can be a bit annoying but if you are polite they tend to leave you alone and to be honest thats what most people have gone for! If you want luxury and family entertainment this is not the hotel for you but the staff are helpful and polite and if you want a clean and basic hotel with a place to lay your head this is spot on. You get what you pay for and after all you dont go on holiday to live in your room do you!

I went to Ibiza to visit my girlfriend who works out there. I booked to stay at the Tropicana for two nights and was pleased with the apartments upon checking in and the receptionist was very friendly.
However things took a turn for the worse when we returned to the hotel during the night as the night receptionist refused to let my girlfriend stay as she did not have her passport on her. He quoted that this was 'spanish law'. He refused to call a taxi for us and so we had to walk back to the main road to flag one down, travel to her apartment in san antonio and collect her passport. This took over an hour and was extremely frustrating.
Upon returning to the apartments having spent my last 20 euros on a taxi he insisted we pay an additional 15 euros to allow her to stay. He insisted I pay in cash however after about 5 minutes explaining that I did not have cash and showing him my empty wallet and offering to pay by credit card on numerous occasions he relented and allowed us to stay without charging my card.
Despite the annoyance we thought nothing more of it until the next evening when we returned and he again tried to charge a total of 30 euros to allow my girlfriend to stay. This time I did have cash however as he refused to give me a receipt (I believe he was doing this for personal financial gain) I insisted on paying by credit card, again he relented as presumably he did not want a paper trail showing this transaction.
The whole episode was quite frankly a disgrace and despite having a very friendly conversation with the manager the following day I would never stay at this hotel again or indeed recommend anyone else do so just because of this night receptionist who I strongly believe is demanding people hand over money which he retains himself as upon checking out there were no additional charges to pay.
The incident only cost me 20 euros but the time taken to resolve this and the disappointment leaves a very bad memory of this trip that I would like to forget.
“ Top Tip: Restaurant Du No, near the Hawaii hotel was fabulous
