Very Good

Check-in date:

Stayed here January 2013. Lovely hotel looking out onto pretty beach, great view from our balcony. Nice flat promenade about mile and a half long with fun fair at one end and the Charca (inland lake) with lots of little boats at the other end.

Room and bathroom were clean, comfortable and spacious. Beds and pillows good but bath was tricky to get in and out due to shower screen and would have liked a not slip mat in bath. Very limited TV in English, only a film channel and an American channel that concentrated on financial matters with occasional news bulletin.

Great breakfast buffet with plenty of choice: cereals; dates, prunes and dried apricots; apples, oranges and bananas; various breads, rolls and toast; cakes and croissants; sliced cheese, ham and foreign cold meat; 4 - 6 hot items each day but not typical English breakfast e.g. tortilla, hard boiled eggs, frankfurter type sausages; coffee, tea and fruit juice.

Staff very friendly and helpful but no tourist leaflets and the tourist information in Arricife was always shut in January 2013.

Top Tip: Arricife is a great location for getting around, with the island's main bus station about 15-20 mins walk from the hotel, but it is not really a tourist resort and is dead on Sundays. You can eat in the hotel restaurant at night and there are plenty of snack bars, Pizza or Chinese cafes, but difficult to find any other restaurants. We had to eat our main meal at midday in other parts of the island.

Costa Teguise is 15 mins on the bus 1.30 euros each way on the local bus and has lovely walks & beaches, lots of restaurants and tourist shops. Playa Blanca is similar and bus takes 45 mins costs 3.40 euros.

Best places to visit are:
CUEVA DE LOS VERDES in North East of the island (spectacular caves, big caves with short connecting passages. I am claustrophobic but coped!
JAMEOS DEL AGUA (in N.E.) lake & garden and volcnic exhibition in collapsed volcanic tunnel.
TIMANFAYA NATIONAL PARK – (SW) no bus so you have to book a trip.
LOS HERVIDEROS. - (SW) - crashing waves funnelled into rocky inlets.
LAG OMAR – The House and Museum of Omar Sharif, S of Teguise. 15 mins on local bus towards Teguise and get off at Nazaret (Bus drivers are very helpful). then a 10 minute walk, mostly flat but short up hill at the end. House is built into the cliffs with 1001 Arabian Nights style garden.
CAESAR MANRIQUE FOUNDATION - 10 mins on local bus towards Teguise and get off at Cruce Caesar Manrique (A roundabout with a huge steel mobile in the centre).3 mins walk. House and gardens built into bubbles in the ground on a lava field.
Recommend Customer Travel as the best trips. Based at Costa Teguise and Puerta del Carmen but will pick up anywhere. www.customertravel.com

very good place to explore lanzarotte if your travelling free style!car parking is a matter of driving round the block,no difficulties ,very friendly peole, highly reccomend it,would never dream of staying anywhere which is sealed in and claustrophobic without balconies, where the windows have chains on them to stop them opening properly ,the grnd over the road looks like somewhere Iwould hate to be!
