As previous reviewers have stated, this hotel isn't really 5* but don't let that put you off! The food (both buffet breakfasts & evening meals) are really good - breakfast especially. Lunches at the pool bar are of exceptional quality. It is, as is often the case, the little things that aren't quite right for a 5* hotel - the staff do their best, but there's a few too many chiefs (in suits) & not quite enough Indians in my opinion. The welcome on check-in could of been slightly warmer & more informative (it took us three days to realise there was free wifi in the hotel & maps of the island available - we probably should of been informed of first & handed a copy of second on arrival). That said, we asked to be moved from our first room (450) as it had a very limited view, a shared balcony & was a little tatty round the edges - 10 euros per night extra secured us room 707 with a lovely sea view & private balcony all speedily sorted with no fuss at all.
Overall, for the money, this is a great value hotel with decent food & modern fixtures & fittings including plenty of spotlessly clean toilets in all communal areas. The walk to Puerto Calero is less than 10 minutes & well worth the effort, as is the hour on again into Puerto Del Carmen for the slightly more energetic! We would definitely consider a return visit - the niggles I've stated are just that....
“ Top Tip: Take the cliff path walk to Puerto Del Carmen. Plenty of excellent restaurants in the old town & a lovely feeling of satisfaction that you've walked off at least some of the calories consumed on return!
