Spent 7 nights here 1/2 board with 2 year old and crawling baby.Excellent family accommodation, large. 2 bedroom apartment with lockable gate, totally enclosed patio, separate outside clothes drying area and large comfy beds.Satellite TV had only German & Spanish channels so we took our own DVDs.No Wifi in apartment but was free in reception area.Apartment was thoroughly cleaned every day.Food was excellent, lovely breakfast buffet and good choice of evening meal with buffet starters and puddings and main courses ordered from a menu and freshly prepared.Food was fairly exotic..goat curry was an option one night but also plenty of standard things like pizza and pasta.Separate children's menu with good enough choice for a week's holiday.Waiters were friendly and helpful.Plenty of highchairs etc for our children. The hotel is very well maintained and stylish but a big drawback was the all 3 pools were freezing cold. Our kids could not swim which was a big disappointment. They are heatable but despite asking repeatedly, the hotel did not heat them.As a result there was no-one around or in the pool in the day and this made the hotel very quiet with no buzz. There was never anyone in the poolside bar, ordering drinks or anything. The hotel is missing out on a big opportunity in my opinion. It did have a nice big sandpit, boules pitch and playground though which my older son loved. It was also very quiet at night as there is no entertainment, except for one night when they had a saxophonist and it really brought it alive. It is a bit of a walk from the main resort as it is in a quiet residential area.It may be too quiet a for a lot of people but if you are looking for spacious accommodation and nice food in a tranquil setting it certainly can offer that.

Top Tip: Hire a car and drive to the stunning Papaguyo sandy beaches

It is obviously still being brought up to true 4* standard by Iberostar but give them a chance and I'm sure they'll do it.

The staff were great, the idea of the hotel being a collection of bungalows is great, and the ambience was excellent.

As with all hotels at this price point the food can be repetitive and not always 100%, but it was always at least acceptable and again the staff were very good.

We are certainly planning to go back - its perfect for a small family who want some peace, quiet and relaxation.

Top Tip: The island is small enough to explore completely, and its certainly lovely enough to.

Spectacular

This is the fifth time we have stayed at this hotel and we love it here. The rooms are spacious. The only problem we had was with our water. The day we arrived we had no hot water and so we had to change rooms. On our last day we were assured we would get a room to have a shower but when we got to it the hot water had been turned off so we had to have cold showers on leaving.

Check-in date:

The bungalows are clean and well maintained, with a quiet and relaxed feel about the area, there are steps and ramps to the different levels,so it is possible for less mobile to us the bungalows. There are a few local restaurants, but Playa Blanca is the main area some 3 km way,a bus for 2.30 euros,or taxi for 4.00euros

Top Tip: Playa Blanca has many very good restaurants, there were no disco's in this area.

We were very satisfied with the hotel, but we wanted to stay somewhere very quiet near the edge of the resort. The hotel has beautiful views of the mountains and sea. The accommodation is 3 star with the rooms needing a little TLC. The bathrooms were excellent. The breakfast is well worth having with freshly prepared eggs and many hot options, but I wouldn't recommend eating dinner at the hotel. The options were poor and the food was of a low quality. We were on half board and I would have much rather ate out at the many good restaurants in the area. The pools at the hotel were both nice, but too cold to swim in. The jacuzzi was not heated either. We also had a hard time getting beach towels for the majority of the stay.

Top Tip: The hotel is situated walking distance from the Papagayo beaches in a Natural area, which are just picture perfect.
The area can be very windy, so always be prepared with something warm to cover up, especially in the mornings and evenings.
I recommend hiring a car because there are amazing sites quite near to the resort, as well as great little cities for meals out, like El Golfo.
