The Papagayo Arena Hotel is located in the beachfront of Las Coloradas, between the Village Playa Blanca and the Papagayo beach (600 m away), in the south of Lanzarote. From the hotel the guests can enjoy the excellent views of the islands of Fuerteventura and Lobos and also some of the most spectacular sunsets of the area. The complex is an ideal holiday destination not only for families but also for couples, featuring amongst other facilities, a buffet restaurant and specialties restaurants. Moreover, the capital of the island, Accerife is about 40 km away and the Lanzarote Internacional Airport about 35 km away from the hotel.

We were thoroughly happy with the Papagayo Arena - it is extremely clean and comfortable with lovely decor and furniture throughout!
Room was very spacious, lovely shower with a low step in which is brilliant. and comfy tempur type mattress on a huge bed.
Food was of an extremely high standard - lots of specialised chefs always around and the food was constantly delicious with loads of variety!
Only thing lacking sadly is an experienced animation team (sorry guys - probably not your fault) but the hotel and the clientele deserve something better.
The bar/dining staff are a credit to the hotel and the chamber maids obviously work hard. Maintenance personnel too, as my hair dryer broke and I had a replacement before the end of the night!!

Excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. The adjacent rooms I requested were made available to my family Food wide choice and of good quality. Bedrooms overlooking pool and sea (Block H) were comfortable and very clean. Minor problem with toilet I reported to receiption and returned immediately to our room to find plumber had already arrived and was dealing with the problem and solving it. You can't beat that for service!! Great relaxing holiday
Will be returning in the future.

Hotel is very clean and tidy yet everything is slightly inconvenient!
Bar open till 11 and then you have to use the snack bar by pool - so you cannot sit in the hotel and have a drink which is poor. especially as you are on holiday! If you do you then have to pay.
The snack bar is very limited for drink in the evening and on 3 occassions it was not even staffed! but once we walked to reception they organised someone to come down. just a hassle!]
Tennis courts ripped and tired.
Great holiday though just as i said nothing really wrong, just made a little difficult!!

The position of the hotel suited us perfectly (we are an older couple who enjoy more remote beaches). A fifteen minute walk took us to the first of a string of five glorious beaches with soft sand and gentle to moderate waves. The furthest of the five beaches was just a fifty five minute walk.
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We had good conversations with many of them and nothing was too much trouble.
Our room was in E Block, with a large, sunny balcony overlooking the sea. It had a fully working jacuzzi and an enormous bed. Slightly disappointed there was only one comfortable chair, which seemed a bit odd. Still, we spent very little time in the room.
The food was excellent, especially the freshly cooked meats and fish. The A/I drinks were as expected - a fairly bland set of standard wines but some tasty cocktails and a decent beer.
The entertainments were not to our taste, but we don't tend to get involved anyway.
The swimming pools are superb, and not too busy, with ample sun-beds and lovely balconies to look out across towards Fuerteventura.
My only real criticism of the hotel is the poor reliability of its free wi-fi. Sometimes we got connected, sometimes we didn't and we often lost a connection in the middle of some on-line activity.

Top Tip:
It's easy to walk to the Marina near Playa Blanca. The Wednesday market is popular.
We hired a car at the hotel for a day's drive around - it is a fascinating island with lots to see - look out for the Timanfaya trip and the Cesar Manrique museum and house. At the far North of the mountain there are incredible views across La Graciosa, a small island about 400 metres off the coast. Also, we took lunch at Famara in a restaurant called El Risco. If you are fond of fish it is superb - you can actually see the fish being caught and prepared outside the restaurant, about five metres from the balcony. If you don't like fish probably best to try somewhere else as the choice is not very wide.
