My wife and I spent 4 nights here in early April, we were looking for a quiet break to recharge the batteries. That is exactly what we got!! The hotel is very nice, clean rooms and pool area and staff very polite and friendly. Buffet restaurant is good enough, with a good selection of hot, some cooked to order, and cold dishes and plenty of fish and salad. Breakfast also had a good selection ranging from bacon and eggs to cereal to continental.
I know we were right at the start of the season but if you’re after lively night life this is not the hotel for you, perfect for us as we were happy relaxing with a quiet drink in the bar (which closed at mid-night) after dinner. There is the marina across the road which has several bars and restaurants along with the boutique shops and it is about a 10-15 minute walk along the costal footpath to the more lively part of town. We did venture up there one night.
Overall we were more than happy with the hotel and would definitely consider returning for a similar relaxing break, might even bring out two toddlers next time as the indoor pool would be perfect for learning to swim before venturing out into the main pool or the sea!!

“ We only returned yesterday , and have had a great two weeks break at the rubimar. The food was some of the best we have been offered in all inclusive, especially the good old english breakfast with a choice of omelete, scrambled or fried eggs every morning to go with the bacon and beans. the main meals included huge fresh prawns, catfish, hake, loin of pork, sirloin beef just to name a few. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, nothing seemed to be too much. Our apartment was spotless, we had a lot of stairs to climb to get to our apartment (only one block had a lift) but the view we had across the bay was incredible. The beach is about ten minutes walk away and the playa blanca town is about twenty minutes walk. The mariner is about four minutes away and is very nice. There are restuarants and bars and amusement arcades as well as a large supermarket a minutes walk away. There isn't much in the way of entertainment at the rubimar itself, but to be honest that suited us. All in all we were pleasantly surprised by the standards at the rubimar after some of the things we had read. We would certainly go there again without hesitation.
“ Top Tip: try the water taxi, takes you to papaguaya beach, and playa blanca for 10 euro return.

First a big thank you for Travel Republic, another successful trip without any problems, so Thank you.
From the moment we arrived to our goodbyes the staff here were first class, polite, helpful, cheery could not do enough for you, well done everyone.
The Hotel was far from full, and after reading some reviews on here we were a little worried, but after about half an hour all/any fears we had were blown away, this is a true "gem" of a Hotel, for what we paid, it has to be deal of the year.
The Hotel is very well maintained, very clean, well managed and we could not fault any aspects of the Hotel what so ever.
The room was superb, we booked a sea view AI room, and that is what we got, the room was clean, spacious, got the sun and all the furniture was modern and up to date. The bathroom was big, nice clean bath with a power shower and we had clean towels/room service 5 times, maids have Thu/Sun off. The balcony looked out towards the marina with the "sea view" further on, not the best of views to the sea, but hey, we could sit in the sun, watch the comings and goings around the marina etc, so still impressive..
As said,Hotel was quiet, but not once did we have to get up early to "bag" a bed, not a single person put towels on beds, you could get a sun bed at any time of the day, however that may change come high season. The beds were also the canvas type, not the plastic ones, so also very comfy.
Our biggest worry was the comments about the food, especially as we had booked AI......not a worry, we never had a problem, never went in dining room and came out disappointed.I would say that there is not a "massive" choice, but every day there was different foods to choose from, the main meats/fish etc was changed daily and there was plenty of "side" foods to have, like a good salad bar, plenty of potatoes, veg etc. As said we had no problems at any meal times.
There are some good restaurants around the marina, but if you wanted bars with entertainment etc then it was a 15min walk along the prom to the Papagayo centre, there were loads of bars, all doing the sports on big screens/plasma tv's etc . There was 2 Irish bars, both with good singers, there was also a couple of bars that stayed open till 6am.......so they told me ? ha ha ..
“
Top Tip:
For the night time fun, go to the Papagayo centre, walk from the Hotel towards the marina and keep going till you see Burger King,15 mins or if you want a Taxi, the rank is at the side of the supermarket/ bowling club (next door to Hotel).....it is just 3 euro..
I would recommend the Wax bar for the sport, not a massive bar, but they have some 10 tv's and try the Harp bar for the entertainment..

We found the staff very helpfull and when we requisted extra blankets and a kettle they were delivered to our apartment within the next hour. the apartment was large and the maid service wery good.
For older people they should request a lift service to their apartment as the stairs might be a problem for them.
“ Top Tip: Anybody who is self catering shuld visit the Roper supermarket where their is a excellent choice of fresh meat and fish as well as everything else. The Roper is along the coast to the left of the Marina approx'1.5 kilometres theres also a sports bar with a great pint of guiness on tap.
