The staff in the bar/restaurant are excellent and found out it is run separately from the hotel.
The hotel staff, in general are poor.
We had to ask many times and took 5 days to get our rooms cleaned. With up to 10 cockroaches a day appearing in the rooms it was not pleasant.
The hotel is tired; however it is what it is. A cheap hotel in a cheap part of the island! We were there for the Ironman and it worked well as boys only. If I was on Holiday I would stay clear of Puerto del Carmen altogether and head for Playa Blanca so not an issue!!

“ had to ask reception for toliet roll, towels bedlinen and to clean appartment as hadnt been cleaned since arrived, receptionests were really good and the bar staff were amazing and very friendly. close to the beach and bars and restraunts.would conisder going back if cleaners came around 3 out of 7 days.

After reading some of the reviews for Blue Sea Kontiki on this site, I was a little apprehensive. My apprehension was misplaced however.
I would describe the Kontiki as 'cheap and cheerful'. Although the décor of the apartment could do with an update, the apartment was very clean with the maid coming in every two days. The location of the complex is excellent - a couple of minutes walk from the beach and numerous bars and restaurants. The reception staff and maids are very helpful and friendly - I requested a new bolt on one of the windows and an extra bowl for the apartment, at reception, and both requests had been dealt with in under two hours. Also as recommended by one of the reviewers on this site, I requested an apartment on an upper floor with a pool or sea view and my request was fulfilled with no fuss.
I would definitely recommend this complex and will be using it for my next stay.
“ Top Tip: Try the American Indian Cafe. It's a couple of minutes from the Kontiki on the seafront and has free Wi-Fi, a great atmosphere and excellent live music every night. For some excellent Mexican food, try the Cantina Don Rafael. Again, a couple of minutes from the complex on the seafront.

“ The Hotel Kon Tiki is now getting very dated needs a good repaint this is only in the rooms,the furniture is now getting very tatty and in some case's very stained. We have stayed in this hotel before about a year and a half ago. The hill from the sea front up to the hotel is very steep and is NOT recommended for older people 65 plus or people with bad hearts....This should be explained.
