The hotel was built in 1806 and completely renovated in 1998. The hotel has succeeded in maintaining its rural character reflecting the atmosphere on Lanzarote at the beginning of the 19th century. The hotel offers a total of 1 single room, 5 double rooms and 2 suites on 2 floors. Amongst the hotel facilities count a foyer with 24-hour reception, a hire safe, a library, a public Internet terminal and restaurant. A beautiful inner courtyard and an extensive estate also feature at this hotel. Those arriving by car may make use of the car park or garage Room and laundry services are also available.The finca is situated on the outskirts of the winegrowing village of Mozaga, the geographical and rural centre of Lanzarote. There are countless local plants to be found in the hotel grounds. In 9 km, guests will reach the beach.All of the pleasant rooms are furnished with antiques and elegant furniture. The rooms come with an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer, direct dial telephone, satellite and cable TV, a minibar, a fridge, a hire safe, central heating and Internet access. The suites additionally include a separate bedroom.There is a golf course approximately 9 km away.The restaurant is open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 19:30 to 22:30 h. We had one of the two suites (No 9), and having a lounge in addition to the bedroom and bathroom makes a big difference. It was spacious, tastefully and traditionally furnished and comfortable, with a picture window in the lounge giving a fine view over the hills. One drawback was a TV that picked up only Spanish and German stations, and the remote control was decidedly iffy. A simple radio would have been nice, and I'd even have put up with CNN on the telly. Also, water in the bathroom took an absolute age to run hot - not good on Lanzarote where water is a precious commodity. But unless you like cold showers, be prepared to watch it run down the plughole.
The owner and staff were very friendly, and the restaurant serves good food that's refreshingly not the typical tourist fare you tend to find in holiday destinations. Wine prices are reasonable, with good selection of both local and mainland Spanish varieties.
The inland location of the hotel near San Bartoleme is well situated for exploring the island by car, and it's located in a peaceful spot. Well, theoretically it is. The one fly in that ointment is having yapping dogs in nearby properties, which were an unwanted distraction. Fortunately their owners seem to take them in during the evenings, so you'll get a good night's sleep.
Were my wife and I to revisit Lanzarote we'd certainly seriously consider staying here again (maybe by that time the dogs will have been put down!). In a rustic kind of way it's definitely a cut above your average holiday hotel.

“ The hotel looks nothing from the road. It is rustic and quaint once in the grounds. We had a suite which was well furnished. It is more like a restaurant with rooms than a hotel. Lack of a swimming pool may put people off. The bar opens at 7.30pm and there is a mini bar in the bedroom. The restaurant & food are superb. We went in low season and the menu didn't change for the whole fortnight. There were specials but even so it was disappointing there was not more variety. We would recommend half board for a week but not a fortnight.

The Sol Lanzarote hotel offers a peaceful beachfront location in Matagorda, simple self catering accommodation and plenty of entertaiment and activities, just perfect for families. Shopping Centre 200 meters away. Bus stop 100 meters from the hotel. 3 km distance from Puerto del Carmen, 5 km from the airport, 17 km from the Costa Teguise golf course, and with easy access to the most important tourist attractions on the island.

“ i went on own to get away from rat race and have to say it was great. just 5 mins to beach, bars and supermarket. nice quiet safe area. close to bus stop. lovely pool. mostly couples. the sisters at reception could not be more helpful.
