Villa Canaima is 10 minutes’ walk from Matagorda Beach in Lanzarote’s Puerto del Carmen resort. It offers apartments with flat-screen satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, and an outdoor pool with loungers.

“ 1st time at Villa Canaima. Very clean inside and out and courteous staff/cleaners etc. But needs an injection of vitality. It was advertised as having pool bar and snacks etc but had neither unfortunatley. We would have stayed at pool daily but there was nothing going on. Been at the resort [Matagorda] 5 times and never known it to be so quiet, so this inactivity may be down to that i.e. worldwide economic situation. Prices in general for drinks and food are up from previous visit and again may be due to current economy issues. To sum up, relaxation and tranquility was superb but I fear is not for all.
“ Top Tip: Pubs and food outlets were as previous visits with some shutdown! Shame really because the beach and general layout is a paradise, but an injection of cash and ideas is required urgently by those responsible to keep this fantastic resort alive and kicking before it's too late. La Brisa and the Chinese restaraunts are really good in the commercial centre as is the Irish Bar Gee Gee's for friendliness and crack! Oh and don't forget the Rock Ola!

“ from the moment we all checked in we were greated with friendly staff who were always willing to help. the apartments were spotless and very nice.a nice gesture of a cool bottle of water on arrival. the pool area was clean and really nice. we had a lovely veiw over looking the sea all in all we had one of the best Holidays ever and will be going back again to this lovely hotel.
“ Top Tip: use the local transport to venture out in the other areas it's cheap and a great way to venture out. The resturants in the area were wonderful and we had a good choice. The beach and sea superb.

“ I would have rated this Excellent but my only complaint would be they need to provide cushioned mattresses for the sun loungers around the pool. I did try to spend a day sunbathing at the pool but the beds were so extremely uncomfortable I gave up. Apart from that the apartments were ideal, very clean, large sunny balcony with seaview as requested and staff were excellent.

i went on own to get away from rat race and have to say it was great. just 5 mins to beach, bars and supermarket. nice quiet safe area. close to bus stop. lovely pool. mostly couples. the sisters at reception could not be more helpful. WiFi bit tempermental at times but no bother using free internet on PC in reception area.
would you believe they had english TV stations. relaxed with glass wine before going out watching Colombo, CSI, Downtown Abbey..........
Matagorda is a lovely area. lovely walk by beach into old town if you feeling energetic- about 1 hour. or take the bus.
15 mins to Jameos centre and lots nice places to eat and drink. esp recommend Paddy s Paradise.
make a point of never going back to same Apt complex but will have to reconsider as i definately going back....

Top Tip:
-Paddys Paradise in Jameos centre. friendly Irish owner.
-The Place- on left after Cafe Puerto del Carmen, about 15 mins before you get to old town. down beside beach. lovely place to see sunset and great staff and food.
-grand walk out by airport towards Arraciffe but bring scarf as lots sand flying.
