Canyamel Park Hotel and Apartments

Beautifully designed hotel, spacious, with lovely pools, gardens, patios, and facilities.

Great, spacious, comfortable bar, with attentive waiter service, and branded drinks.

We went half board - highly recommended - extensive choice of foods for breakfast and dinner, with items like eggs, pancakes, and meats also cooked to order at the grill section.

Lots of options for vegetarians too.

Freindly and helpful staff throughout all whole hotel areas.

English speaking staff are always on hand, although the hotel/town generally has a majority of German tourists, so Spanish and German are more widely understood and spoken. Not a problem for us though, as we always tried to speak basic Spanish where possible.

Lovely, peaceful, relaxing small town. Not a big resort, so don't expect lots going on, but ideal if you want a pretty, unspoilt, quieter place to relax! There are a couple of good beach cafes, and several shops, bars, cafes and restaurants in town.

There is simple, cheap bike hire at the hotel also, as well as the gym and indoor pool.

There is a great outdoor pool at the main hotel, and a roof-top pool at the apartments, where we stayed, with stunning views of the mountains.

The apartments are only a few hundred yards from the main hotel, and you can use all the main hotel facilites. Our apartment was lovely, with lots of marble flooring, good balcony, great bathroom, and little kitchen area. Bed could have been a little comfier, but this was the only issue.

We went from the end of April until the begining of May. We found this a great time to visit, but we might have had exceptionally good weather... Hot and sunny most days (about 25-30C I guess), although there was a stiff spring breeze often, but fine and hot if you find a sheltered spot.

At this time of year, the place is active enough, but still nice and quiet, and not overcrowded.

Also at this time, the surrounding countyside is very pretty, and still quite lush in the spring - full of wild flowers and grasses.

Great, extensive, sandy beach.

Not possible to walk for very long along the coastline off the beach, as there are cliffs and private land blocking the coastline off.

Great scenery and mountains all around the town though, and surrounding countryside is lovely to explore if you can hire a bike or car.
