We arrived late in the evening (9.30pm) on our first day and the receptionist managed to arrange a light salad meal for us at very short notice. Our room was in Estoril 1, the original hotel, across the road from the main complex, but sufficiently far off for the 'entertainment' not to intrude too much. The rooms on the other side of the building, of our building, overlooking the harbour must have been really pleasant at night because it was very quiet along that road after about ten at night.
The rooms were adequate, breakfast the same each day but evening meals had variety, nothing to get excited about although I thought that the soup was possibly the best I had ever had in any hotel. Unfortunately, on our sixth day (of ten) we were told that we were going to have to transfer to another hotel for the last two nights as they were closing ( due to lack of customers). Just our luck! The Kareoke was somthing we had not been looking forward to, for a second time, and with everyone leaving, it was turning into a really nice hotel. No complaints from us about lack of sunbeds. We finished up in the Corso Hotel for the last two nights. Great rooms & pool, shame about the food, that did not match the rest of the hotel. Soup was rubbish! Being Half Board meant we were expected to pay for drinks in the restaurant with meals, that had not been the rule at Estoril. Coffee was hit and miss at both hotels so take a travel kettle.

Top Tip: Porto Colom for a very lazy holiday unless you have transport to go exploring. Nearest beach at Cala Marsal ( a 15 min.walk away) to the south. We were lucky to hit upon a Medieval Market at Manacor over one weekend and free travel by rail from Manacor to Palma (via Inca) (big street market) and back due to a Festival.

We arrived at about 3.30am where we were greeted by a friendly man who booked us in and gave us our AI bracelets. Went up to the room and the power socket for the tv did not work. We went back down and he noted it down on a really long list of problems that guests had obviously brought up during the course of the evening and we went back up to the room. We got up at 8.00am the next morning for breakfast and went for a walk - by time we got back the problem had been fixed. Unfortunately this was the only good point about the hotel. The staff were miserable most of the time and with good reason, they seemed to work all day every day from 7am till 11pm/12am. The food was variable - sometimes it was quite nice but more often than not it wasn't what I would describe as edible. By the last 2 nights we couldn't eat it any longer and ended up going out for dinner. There was also no snack bar and ice creams, crisps and bottled water are not included in the all inclusive package.
The pool is VERY SMALL. I think the pictures border on misrepresentation! As for the gym, sauna and Jacuzzi - do not let these be reason for you to choose this hotel as there is a 90% chance that you will not be able to use these facilities.
There are 3 beaches in the resort of Porto Colom however only one is accessible by foot in my opinion and you have to walk up a pretty long hill to get to it. However it is the most beautiful beach i've ever seen and it wasn't too busy. There's also a fantastic italian restaurant at the bottom of the hill on the way to the beach which was absolutely amazing and not very expensive.
I think that overall the hotel was fine but the all inclusive wasn't worth the money. The area was very quiet and friendly - not for people looking for late nights!!

The food in the hotel was excellent. The only criticism i have about the hotel was the hotel rooms which could have done with some maintanance work, eg only one plug socket in the room, one of the lampshades missing and the ceiling fan was not operational but a fan was provided. With a few improvements the hotel could be a 3 star but on the whole the hotel was fine.

Top Tip: The resort is very quiet but ideal for a relaxing holiday.
