The El Vistamar sits right at the edge of what was a small fishing bay and as such is in a quieter area of Majorca. Activities are limited in the area with a few restaurants and cafe-bars circling the harbour marina frontage. If you're looking for a quiet break away from the noise then this is the place. If you want to see more then hire a car, they're cheap enough, and get around. The hotel itself had little to fault it, from the really well trained and friendly staff, to its general cleanliness and housekeeping. Noithing seemed too much trouble. The restaurant staff particularly deserve special credit. They work hard, but still had time to be polite and attentive to the guests. The food was varied and with enough choice to tempt the most jaded palate.

Top Tip: Unless you can just sit around the pool all day long hire a car and drive around the island. If you have a sat-nav it's a doddle. One thing more to say about Majorca - the roads are fantastic. Smooth, well sign-posted and a pleasure to drive on. Visit Cala D'Or for the beach, Porto Christo for the Dragon Caves and watch the wind-surfers at C'an Pastillo.

Great

I really thought this hotel was great. It is an adult only hotel which is suitable for older people and couples. It is not really for those looking for entertainment on their door step but it is not far from Cala D'Or which is better for restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is in a quiet location (Porto Colom) which is perfect if you want a relaxing holiday. It is a little dated decor-wise but spotless and full of charm. The staff are very helpful and I highly recommend going Half-board as the breakfast and dinners are really great. There was so much variety! The only slight down-side was that the TV channels were not in English and the walls are a little thin in the rooms so you can often hear toilets or next door's tv! The hotel as a whole though is quiet and you will most likely get a good nights sleep.

Top Tip: Hire a car from reception and travel around a bit.
Jump on the bus for a bit more entertainment in neighbouring Cala D'Or.
Hiring a fridge in your room is very expensive so we liked to buy bags of ice and fill the sink to cool drinks.

this hotel is ideal for a quiet break. it is an adults only hotel ,the standard of the hotel is very good,it has 2 good pool and plenty of sunloungers. the food is good plenty of choice.although there is no organised trips from the hotel there is a local bus stop taking you to different parts of the island.the walk to the beach and the old town is a good 25 minutes. the entertainment is low key in the bar quiz nights etc but there is no noise at the hotel and beds are comfortable, negative points-the layout of the dining hall, there are limited spaces on the ground floor which is very popular as it is a buffet service -so much so that people start queing for their evening meal at 6.50pm !in order to get a place, and the other 2 dining rooms have stairs goings up to them which is awkward when carrying food. As we visited in may the oudoor pools were too cold to swim in, the indoor heated pool was not heated! we found out later that you had to pay reception 6 euros to use it and give an hours notice. On the whole i think anyonw visiting this hotel would be pleased and the staff are lovely.

Very Good

This is a nice hotel, the staff, in particular the bar staff, are very friendly and give great service. The pools areas are fab with a generous amount of sun loungers and is very clean. The pool side bar offering snacks & drinks was excellent. We were on Half board which is a buffett that offered good selection. The only negative I could offer about the restaurant was that on our 1st night it was so buy we had to queue outside! Not what you would expect of a 4 star hotel. The hotel caters towards its German customers as they were the predominent cliental, satelite tv all german channels etc, not a problem for us as we weren't there to watch tv! The only real downside to this hotel is the truelly uncomfortable beds. sounds trivial, but I had to put 2 quilts on top of the mattress as the bed was SO hard, but it was still uncomfy- don't think I could have slept longer than the 5 nights we stayed. I know other people felt the same and some slept on the pull out beds that we had in the Junior Suites. That being said, we had a lovely relaxing stay and would go back.
