Useful base for exploring andalucia. There were some short-comings at the hotel which may have been due to the timing of our trip - e.g. there was a school trip to the indoor swimming pool! and we had cold showers on the last day. Staff were not very attentive and the public areas could have done with a brush and clean up.
the beds weren't the most comfortable, however the balconies overlooking the swimming were a nice addition. the buffet breakfast is 11 euros if not pre-booked. Not a huge amount of quality items to choose from for a 4star. The evening bar snack menu is uninspiring, but useful as its 24 hour! Again, not what you would expect for 4 star, but perhaps understandable for this small Spanish town.
“ Top Tip: the town is worth a look around. there is a funny green hop on hop off open mini bus which is 8 euros each which takes you around various parts of the town which is probably the best way to get a quick overview. everywhere is siesta at 2pm - and this includes the tourist bus, so plan to do this in the morning to get your moneys worth. also, if you have a hire car - try to avoid parking at the top of the hill! bit of a steep walk up and down!

“ Have been going to Antequera for the last six years.This hotel and area is very nice, the people are so friendly, lots of historical buildings and lots of chapels/churches. Good location to explore the surrounding area as the road system is good.
“ Top Tip: We always stop at the Plaza bar/restaurant for a nightcap or two, you cant miss it, its next to the large fountain. We have not had a bad meal anywhere in the town.

I have stayed at the Antequera Golf Hotel before so knew what I was expecting. Its a regular 4 star hotel but there's not a lot going on. There's an outdoor pool which was pretty cold in October. To use the indoor facilities there is an 8 Euro charge ! Although its called the Golf Hotel, the course is a good 5 minutes car ride away.
Meals are buffet style only and are pretty pricey at 20 Euros. The food is not bad, but repetitive. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, although I believe they will supply on demand. Dinner is at 8 p.m. with no flexibility. You can get bar meals throughout the day.

Top Tip:
You need a car, or be prepared to walk into town 15-20 minutes away. Knowledge of Spanish would be useful in the town, although the staff speak English in the hotel.
Public transport is available, but its not easy to work out how to use it. There are buses to the big towns, but with at least two bus companies operating from the bus station, you need to be sure which timetable you are working to. There are two train stations as well! Taxis are available, but cost 5 Euros just to get from the bus station (20 minutes walk). I did get the bus from Malaga to Antequera, but had an anxious half hour delay on the return journey. Its only 4 Euros. There's a new train link from Malaga Airport to Malaga town - only a couple of stops.

“ We had a lovely stay at this Hotel, unfortunately we went in January and there wasn't much on, the indoor pool wasn't available and there was no evening dinner, only snack menu, which meant we had to go out for dinner every evening, but very comfortable and clean, I'd say in the higher season there would be more to do. Very pleasant stay though.

The hotel is situated in the historical centre of the village and provides a perfect blend of traditional style and architecture with modern services and amenities. All 35 guest rooms are spacious and comfortable and are very well equipped with the latest facilities. The hotel restaurant has an excellent culinary selection and there is an extensive range of snacks available in the cafe. The swimming pool offers stunning views.
“ Very very nice hotel, although we found it with difficulty. Its on the main street. Nice, slightly smaller than average room but very confortable. The balcony overlooked the main street but this was no problem.
