Hotel Sa Barrera

“ Travel Republic have excelled themselves here and have landed a real gem of a hotel.. Roberto the Italian owner really has got it right. From the minute you walk in, the service is fantastic.. everyone is friendly (without being overly), and nothing is too much trouble. Every service was delivered with good grace and a smile, from serving breakfast (Thankyou Timothy- what a great guy!!) to the cleaning staff. Towels were lent to us for use on the beach, a pack of cards for after dinner entertainment! Roberto was a lovely warm person and we could understand him perfectly even though we didn't speak the same language! William, Yolanda and Franca, also deserve a mention for their kindness. Our holiday was made special by these lovely people. The hotel itself was situated in an area which on first appearance could have been percieved as 'tacky', but looking at the whole picture it was the perfect base from which to explore this amazing island.

“ This hotel was great. The people there could not do more for you. They made you feel very welcome on arrival, and were always there when you wanted them. We were very well looked after. The only thing we would have liked would to have had tea making facilities in the room, but that apart, the hotel was spotlessly clean, friendly and very central to everything.

“ Top Tip: We found a great restaurant. La Salamandra. The food was great and the surroundings very clean.

“ Amazing hotel, great value for money. Staff efficient (language a slight barrier with some) helpful and friendly. Lovely setting in a nice resort (but resort has lots of steps and steep hills). Hotel restaurant excellent with lovely seating around pool for eating all meals if prefered. Sun loungers comfortable with no hassle regarding use. Breakfast was wonderful, all the usual continental stuff, fruit etc, plus superb fresh homemade cakes, also eggs and bacon cooked fresh if required.
Hotel well kept and beautifully clean. A really relaxing holiday.

“ Top Tip: Didn't really like most of the restaurants we tried in the resort. Lorengos was good value and food nice. We stayed mid September which is when Cala en Porter has it's Festival, lots of chances to see the Menorcan Jaleo Horses plus great displays and Fireworks,lovely atmosphere but not over crowded. Weather was great for September. Take the official walk to the Calas Coves, which is beautiful, great for snorkelling and exploring the caves. The walk starts near the football ground, it's not well sign posted and finding the ground can be surprisingly difficult in such a small resort (we weren't the only ones who walked round in circles first), the actual walk only takes about 30 mins (just follow the marker posts), but also continues on to other resorts if you want something more challenging.I t's a lovely walk but wear some trainers as it is uneven and steep in places.
