Menorca Playa Santandria Hotel

“ The Playa Santandria is a smallish hotel in a secluded position adjacent to an excellent beach, with at least four other restaurants and a supermarket just minutes away. The hotel staff were pleasant, helpful and provided a good level of service. Our room was not ready on arrival, so we had supper with a complimentary bottle of wine while it was sorted out. The establishment has been refurbished recently and offers a pleasant beach bar, airy dining room with a spacious sun terrace above. Breakfasts were superb.

There was a distinct smell of sulphur (or worse) in our room; number 607 on the top floor and above the main entrance. We almost dispelled it by keeping the patio door open and switching the ceiling fan to a faster setting. This smell was also evident when driving down the approach road (Carrer de sa Platja). Hotel reviews from nearby also report a smell of sulphur. So, was it the drains or local geology? Despite this, we would seriously consider going back, perhaps paying the extra for a room around the other side of the building, where the views are even more stunning and possibly the aroma is not so pervasive.

“ Top Tip: The hotel offers a limited evening menu, but we would recommend the Sa Quadra for its ambience and Bahia for its sea view. Both provide good service, although the Bahia is a tad more formal.

Sa Caleta beach is also worth a visit; you can walk it in ten minutes.

“ Unfortunately the Hotel was on the point of closing for winter? before the half term break and neither the Bar or Restaurant was open. Food and beverages were taken at a nearby Hotel so it wasn't a major issue. But I would have like to have been informed prior to the trip.
Gabriel (Hotel Manager) was very efficient and made sure all requests were dealt with promptly. I was a little perturbed to be given front doors to the hotel in case of a late night out as I understood there was 24 hour concierge.
All in all the hotel was clean, bright and in the location I wanted, but would I return? I doubt as next time I return to Menorca there are better deals about during the summer.
