Insotel Club Punta Prima Hotel

“ Great for families with screaming kids but if you want a quiet time, this is not the place for you! Facilities absolutely fabulous, couldn't fault them at all.

“ Top Tip: A hire car is recommended - the island offers so much but there is very little at Punta Prima.

“ This was our second stay and I have to say that standards have dropped very significantly. When you stay at a 5 star hotel and pay top price, you expect people to provide a great experience but this was not really the case for us.
First of all, despite travelling with 3 children, reception staff kept us waiting for 4 hours before they gave us our room. We arrived early at the hotel so they didn't have to give us a room before their official check-in time, but when you to a hotel of this category, you expect the staff to do things to accommodate your needs. Unfortunately, the front desk staff were simply unhelpful and unprofessional at times, laughing at people's backs and not moving a finger to help people with their needs. On departure date, we experienced a similar situation when we asked to checkout late. We were happy to pay the 42 euros they requested, but after asking 3 or 4 times during the day (they kept saying they couldn't decide yet), in the end they said they needed the room and couldn't do it.

Sunbeds are kept locked until around 8:30am which is good but if you're not there by 9am, you won't find any free sunbeds as there's an army of people waiting and as soon as the staff unchains the sunbeds, these are quickly taken by people who put their towels on them and walk away not coming back for hours so in the end, you end up joining in and doing the same yourself every morning.

The other annoying thing was the fact that the pool area is full of wasps. Luckily we didn't get stung, but it's a quite annoying as they get into drinks and are generally a nuisance.

We found surprising the fact that, despite being on an all-inclusive package, bottled water was not included. The previous year this was not the case and when we asked a waiter, he said that management had done it to cut down on costs. Again, not really what you expect from a 5 star hotel.

Similarly, we had to pay to have access to the room safe, which is a joke because the hotel does not incurr any costs in providing this so it's just a money grabbing exercise for them. I can understand asking for a deposit in case you lose the key or forget the pin, but not a cost of 28 euros on top of a deposit of 7 euros.

The entertainment team were very friendly and polite and for young children, the mini-disco is great. Not so sure about grown-ups though.

Food was ok and plentyful but again nothing special and restaurants can be very busy at peak times.

For us, the only 2 things this hotel has going for it are its stunning location and the staff at the bars and restaurants who couldn't be more polite and helpful. The rest could easily belong to a 4 star hotel or even a 3 star one. So if you go to this hotel, do not expect luxury, top of the range facilities or friendly front desk staff because you won't find that. You'll be lucky if you have a relatively trouble free holiday.
