“ the hotel was really good and our room was excellent. we regrettted only staying one night (but our forward journey was already booked). The staff spoke no or very little English but were still helpful and pleasant. We booked dinner bed and breakfast and were foxed by the a la carte or menu of the day - which had we paid for? The staff couldn't understand the question so we ate menu - which was excellent, beautiful food on beautiful crockery.
“ Top Tip: it was hard to find. What appears to be the castle carpark leads to a 'village' of about four buildings - the hotel is at the bottom of the 'village' but the road is marked as private and there is no clue that the hotel is in there. We eventually located it by parking in the car park and waliking and asking. There was nothing there except one more hotel and the castle/church. St. Frances Xavier was born in the castle and the church is therefore a place of pilgrimage so interesting. That said it would make a good base for exploring the Navarre region.
