Golden Port Salou and Spa Hotel

“ Staff were very helpful especially the reception staff who were really nice. Food was good, something for everyone, serving staff were very good. We used the spa, and had massages which were really good, the gym was very poor and the machines delapidated, my husband hurt his back on the trainer, the pool area is kept very clean, in fact whole hotel was clean and staff were always on the ball cleaning up after guests, never standing about, entertainment was good, the usual holiday line up but better than the typical expectations. If the hotel could do something about the noisy guests, that would have been perfect, we unfortunately had mr and mrs shoutey next door, who had domestics at all hours. We missed breakfast a couple of times being too tired to get up for it having been kept awake by next door. We intend to return to the hotel in the future, it was in a good location. The staff were a credit to the hotel and could not do enough for us. We enjoyed everything but the noise.

“ Top Tip: We went in to Barcelona by train. It was quite easy, only need to know is that you will have to get your tickets stamped before they are valid, we were not told this when we bought some returns, it was only a nice man at the station who showed us the machine and told us we needed to do it, he told us that we would have to do it in barcelona on the way back too before we boarded the train. If we hasn't been told this our tickets wouldn't have been validated. We had to go to the desk in Barcelona station to get them stamped for the return journey. Its worth remembering that this is a requirement after you buy your tickets. It's not necessary for the metro.

“ we had a great time at the Golden Port and Spa Salou. The staff were excellent and the food was good . I would go back the only thing i thought negative was the distance from airport. I would prefer to go to Reus airport..Salou is a lovely place. There was plenty of room at the pool area so no looking for sunbeds.

“ Top Tip: Near to the lovely beach and bars.

“ The food was 4* but the hotel was only 3*. Bar staff very friendly and reception very helpful. But the rooms were very small with only one hard chair so not comfortable to sit in. No waste bin. Chamber maiding was poor. There was no where quiet to sit in the evening away from the childrens entertainment. This is only a problem if you are older like us. To summerise, did we enjoy our holiday. Despite our comments yes we did.

“ Top Tip: Try the local trains and buses save yourself lots of money. Cambrils, Tarragona and Reus are all worth visiting especially around the old towns.

“ good variation in food (including show cooking), decent rooms, good pools, good staff - a cash dispenser would have helped as the 2 nearest were out of order
