“
We had a large, pleasant room for our few days' stay and the bathroom was exceptionally clean. It was a bit of a surprise to rediscover that hotels in Spain (even 4 star ones) do not normally provide coffee and tea making facilities in the room - something that is taken for granted in even cheap hotels elsewhere. If it had had those I'd have rated it 10. However, the breakfast buffet was great.
Oh, and in case any English speakers panic at the two 'z's in the name, it's pronounced 'aran tha thu'!
“
Top Tip:
For eating and drinking close to the hotel, there are many pleasant bars, cake shops and restaurants in the area across the main road from the hotel on the opposite side to the entrance, particularly in the Calle de Matia (Maita Kalea in Basque).
The hotel is handy for the university area and about 7-10 minutes' walk to a very nice beach. It's a 20-30 minutes' walk to the main centre of San Sebastian where most tourists will want to spend time but that is not necessarily a drawback as it is along one of the most admired seafront promenades in Europe. However, a bus or taxi might be required to get back to the hotel after an evening eating and drinking in the old part of town, the Parte Vieja!

“ Cannot be faulted.Chocolates left every morning and a wide range of complimentary toiletries as well as a present during the week. Superb food but service in restaurant varied. Coffee pot on the tables would be good. Sometimes had to wait 10 mins for a drink. Reception v. helpful - go out of their way to assist.Unreservedly recommend. Need conservation policy on changing towels/linnen as they were changed after one day even if they were still clean. Very nice but we should all do our bit to save energy and water.
“ Top Tip: Fantastic ber in the old town in the back streets -get Menu del Dia para nuevo euros y tipico Basco.
