H10 Big Sur

“ We have just returned from a fortnight at the Big Sur and once again found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience.The staff in all departments are very enthusiastic about their work and all very pleasant, Reception staff in particular are helpful and very competent. We had a room with a terrace on floor 2 which we requested and found this to be very relaxing - having room enough for sun loungers on the balcony. The room itself was in need of upgrading but spotlessly clean , however, I believe the next phase of refurbishing is to happen before too long so the decor should then be refreshed. The location of this hotel is very central - near to the beach and just a short stroll on the level into Los Cristianos.

I reviewed this hotel after our return in November 2011 and my gripe with the dining room is as before - juice, hot drinks machines and cereals all located in one corner leading to huge congestion at peak breakfast times. Very badly planned.

Food is also not always labelled and there were often trays of meat at dinner and there was no way of knowing if it was beef, lamb, veal or pork or any other. Bacon at breakfast time is not cooked properly - the rashers are not separated before cooking but just put out in huge slabs and when it is separated by the hotel guests, it is found to be uncooked in the centre. In spite of the fact I have mentioned these negative points, they by no means overshadowed the overall hotel experience which was excellent and we will certainly return again - later on in the year.

“ H10 Big Sur in Los Christianos, Tenerife is an adult only hotel. It's a fairly small hotel - 8 floors with rooms either sea view or roadside view. The standard rooms are very adequate, quite spacious and comfortable. The superior rooms with seaview are a much better option - we were upgraded to one of these because of some unsociable hotel guests in the room above us. The decor in the hotel lobby is really welcoming. The food was very good, they always had fresh food being cooked and there was always the option of a stir-fry if you didn't fancy anything else. It's right on the doorstep to the beach and the town. Bus station is a 5 minute walk away. On the downside they only had english news programmes on the TV. We would visit this hotel again.

“ Top Tip: The Sunday Market is only 2 minutes walk away - it's a great market but gets very busy late morning onwards so it's no problem to get there straight after breakfast before the crowds arrive by bus !!!

“ Looks good following refurbishment but I thought that the dinner buffet choice was poor apart from the Hot plate servery which was very good..All the staff were very helpfull and I would certainly return here

“ Excellent, changed room when we found the light outside was keeping my husband awake- no problem - a smiling face soon got it sorted.

“ Top Tip: Go Up an alley next to the chemist on corner where you will find in the small street on the left a small restaurant no frills but great food where the locals go, there is also another one behind it where music is played, also very good food
all reasonably priced.
